I have posted about this a couple of times, but I'm really struggling to make a decision. I wen to a couple of local stores yesterday to try earrings on, so I could get an idea of what each of these might look like on my ear.

The dilemma is that these will be my only diamond earrings (not complaining, but I know that I will not be getting another pair in the future, nor will DH be happy if I tell him that I want to change the setting in a few years).

My ear lobes are really small and my 6mm studs didn't sit well on them (or at least the right one didn't)...the earring kind of hung off of my ear and I didn't like the way it looked. In addition, my holes are uneven...the right one is lower than the left and it's noticable with studs. I tried to have them re-pierced to even them out, but b/c my lobes are small, it didn't work.

That said, which of these styles do you like best? I want something I can wear with jeans or when I get dressed up. I included #5 because I'm wondering if I do a jacket and make the overall earring larger, maybe they'll both hang off of my ear and it will look more balanced??? And, I like the flexibility that jackets give you. That is the only downside to all of the other choices. They are what they are....

So, please help me decide.

No one has an opinion?? On PS??? I'm

Hi Yenny! I picked #4 because they are large enough with the 3stones on top, to distract from unevenness and they are substantial to be worn casual plus dressy. I think if you went stud only - you'd be uncomfortable and very aware of your uneven lobes that perhaps the addition of a jacket (while it does give flexibility...) may not be enough to compensate for a 'lobe difference' in your mind.

We all hear 'mind clean' a lot on PS and I wonder if that #5 option would be 'mind clean' enough for you.

#4 ROCKS!! :D

I pick 2 and 4 :)

Thanks enerchi and sweet asscher! I really like #4 too, I just wish I could try it on before committing! I agree that jackets may not be "mind clean" enough for me, so to speak. I don't want to make a wrong choice here!

I picked #2. To me, they are classic and elegant, and would go with anything. I think they would look great with jeans, but would also look fabulous when you are dressed up. That said, I really don't think you could go wrong with any of them, they are all lovely!

I have slightly uneven piercings too, and find that #4's style dosn't work well with me. It exaggerates the difference!

#2 is going to be the most flattering, since it's dangly and will swing a little.

I prefer #3.
I don't think #2 are unique.
I think #3 is pretty and different, without being so dressy like #2... I like #2, but I don't see you throwing that on with jeans and T shirt.
#1 is always classy, but I take it you are looking for more..
I am not a fan of jackets..

Fortekitty, that's kind of why I'm afraid to do anything where I can't try the earrings on. I thought #4 looked like a good way to hide my flaw. I am concerned that #1 will do the same thing? I wonder I'd my jeweler could make them slightly different lengths to hide the unevenness without being odd?

I picked #2 for two reasons.
I think it's the most attractive of the choices.
It is the only true danglie. (Is denglie a word?)

You said your piercing holes are not even and I suspect the movement of the danglie will conceal that problem a bit.

I pick #3 then #2. I think the drop style may work better for you.

Thanks Kenny and brightice. Yes, I believe danglie is a word, lol!

Earrings are uneven on me too - only it's my ears, not the piercings! My left ear sticks out a bit more than my right. I never wear hoops or danglies because one faces forward and one faces outward and I'm always wondering if people will notice (though I'm guessing noone but me ever has or will!)

If you know that you don't like how studs look on you just cross #5 off the list now! I actually think jackets might well make any unevenness more apparent (I can't tell from your description if there's actually a visible, notable difference or if it's more a mind-clean thing ::) ) - given that we notice symmetry by comparing things to what's next to them, I'm thinking the larger outline of the jacket could make the comparison even easier by putting the diamond-edge closer to stuff you can easily compare to - the ridgy-bits of your ear, where the bottom of your ear cuts off relative to the jacket outline...

#2 would be wayyy too busy for daily wear for me! They are gorgeous though

Actually, I think a dangly with a plain wire drop like on Athena's old earrings would be the best bet - even better if you like rose gold or yellow gold or some metal that blends into your skin better than white. If there's no diamond 'attraction' drawing attention to your holes noone will ever focus on the plain wire, only on the diamonds below, and you could have your jeweller tweak the wire length so the drops hang perfectly symmetrically

Yssie, what an awesome idea! I never would have thought to do yg or eg to blend better with my skin color! Hmmm, that's a contender! Time to edit the poll, lol!

I've seen people pierce almost every part of their body but never the heels of their feet.

How do you walk, and what's the carat weight of those huge rounds?

I'd be torn between 2 and 3...

I voted for #2 because the setting is gorgeous and I feel it is casual enough for jeans. However, I really love Yssie's suggestion too! A fantastic option for you.

#2

Yenny,

Honestly I don't think you can wrong with any of these choices!!! But I voted for #2 as I think that will help with the uneven piercings. I feel your pain here. My ears were pierced unevenly and it drives me nuts that studs sit funny on one ear and they constantly don't look even. :blackeye:

Before I vote, what was the basket style on the 6mm studs that hung down? I have heard people say that pointed baskets droop whereas baskets that have a large surface area on the back -- like the stuller 8 prong mounts most vendors sell -- do not because you can get them nice and tight to the ear.

Regardless I like simple drops like Yssie suggested.

I totally agree about #2 being the best -- but I also think the idea of rose gold french wires with a white gold setting below is genius for the problem you're describing -- drawing attention to the part BELOW your ears, rather than the piercings.

Tough choice!

Thanks everyone. I'm leaning towards #2, though I really love #1, I think that they are too dressy for everyday (for me). #3 was a pair I actually tried on and I liked them, but didn't love them. It did seem to camoflage my uneven piercings. #4 was something I saw online and kinda liked, but I'd be too afraid to buy them without trying them on. The idea of french wire in rose gold with white gold prongs is intriuging. My baskets did sit really close to my ear. They didn't droop, it's just that the 6mm stone was large enough that none of my right lobe showed beneath the stone, whereas it did on the left.

I have an email into JBEG to get an estimate. That may help me decide too! ;))

I've been admiring #2 for months so I"m picking #2 I think they are gooorgeous! I just recently saw of pair like the ones that Yssie suggested and they were adorable, but I guess they seemed more casual to me, like if I wanted them for dressy occasions they wouldn't quite work, but wouldn't be completely out either. They were also cheapies, some sort of simulant, so it's possible thats what made me that way. I think that #2 would be great for casual and dress. They are all super gorgeous though!

I like Yssie's idea best! 1 is probably my next favorite.

I voted for #5...since I'm the only one so far chances are slim that you're going to choose the jackets but I love the idea of being able to "upgrade" your studs whenever it's needed. I think it's very versatile and can be worn day and night.

I like #1 and #3

Thanks Amy! I love #1 and if I could get 2 pair of earrings, those would be one of them! But alas, it isn't going to happen. ;(

Grace and I have been emailing back and forth. The frenchies will have to be custom cut, so she's waiting to get the cost on that before she can give me an estimate. I think that will weigh into my decision. Hopefully, I can make a choice based on aesthetics and not cost, though if some are waaayyy more expensive than others, it may rule them out, making the decision easier by default. :cheeky:

Definitely #2--I love the look of it!

Are those 5.5mm OEC's yours? Tagging onto Yssie's idea, I just saw these yesterday and it would by far be my first choice:

Great find Diamondseeker! Those are awesome earrings - I don't think they would focus on the different piercing levels as the 'dangle' would be the distraction. I think that's a great option!! :appl:
