I am new to the diamond shopping and have appreciated all of the useful information on this Forum. I am about to purchase an engagement ring (well, my fiance is buying it for me
and have it mostly figured out. Hoping someone is willing to give me their advice on the final choices.
Here is what I am planning with a budget of $14,500:
Setting: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/open-gallery-accented-18k-yellow-gold-5448y18
I love this setting with the three prongs on the side stones. I prefer yellow gold and have heard you can get slightly lower color grades with it. $1375 sounds steep, but I prefer this setting over anything on Blue Nile.
Diamonds ($13,125 left in the budget for all three diamonds):
Center Stone - 1.3 to 1.5 carats, H-J color, VS2, Excellent/Ideal cut
Side Stones - 0.6 to 0.7 carats each, matching color, VS2, Excellent/Ideal cut
Any suggestions on the center stone? Is a Brian Gavin Signature cut worth getting a smaller size? Or would a certified Excellent/Ideal cut from "Other vendors" be okay? Any problems with returns on Brian Gavin? Anything in particular to look out for besides the 4 Cs for this purchase?
Thank you!!
