Too funny. This reminds me of one of the educational presentations at last month''s JCK-show.

Q.: When does a man go shopping for Valentine''s day?
A.: On the 14th of Feb.
Q.: At what time?
A.: At 5 PM
Q.: And if not then, when?
A.: On the next day

It showed retailers that they have opportunities if they build up a personal relation with their customers. Do the guy a favor. Call him a few weeks before a special event, his wife''s birthday, their anniversary, X-mas, Valentine''s or Mother''s day, and remind them about what their beloved was looking at in the store on her last visit.

Live long,

Live long,
Too true. For our first wedding anniversary my husband had flowers delivered to where I work the day after our anniversary. I work with a lot of men, and they never let him forget that one!

I worked in a jewlery store a few years ago. A man came in about 1/2 hour before closing time on Valentine''s Day. He said he wanted to spend about $xxx and needed it wrapped. I said "Sure! What would you like to give her: bracelet ... pendan ____ He interrupts to say that he couldn''t care less, and that she would probably return it anyway! Sheesh. Are we r e a l l y that bad?? Possibly SOME women like that give SOME men the ammunition to act the way they do.

And I stress SOME.

Ditto! I try not to read them. But, you got me!

Lol. Coming from the guy who has his ring months in advance, I find this pretty funny.

And it''s hard to want to help people who want it NOW NOW NOW.

I feel ya.

rob, for a minute there, I thought you were serious!

I don''t think you''ve read near enough of these in less than 5 months to be this irritated yet. Come back in a year or so.

I thought mine was the only one who did that!

These rank right up there with the posts about "I just got this FABULOUS deal from a friend of a friend -- what do you think? I can''t return it at this point, but I want your honest opinion."

What annoys me even more that those posts are the ones where people come on and say "Help Me! Just bought a ring at KAY''S/JARED''S/ROBBIN BROS., etc. and need to know if it''s a good one!" Ummm, if you know about PS, why didn''t you do a search on those places and *then* figure out how to buy a good one before you bought a crap one? I dont get those posts at all...

I think that doubt sets in very quickly once they have pulled the trigger, they start the research, then find Pricescope, and do it backwards so to speak. As to the threads where people want advice immediately, I don't really mind, I just want to try to help.

I think some people, and I'm probably one of them, don't realize how long it takes to search for a really good stone. For me, I had a 2 week window to get one and before I stumbled upon this website, I thought that was long enough. So, the search became more stressful than I thought it would be.

I did visit places like Kay's before I read this forum and I'm glad I found you guys. Still there was more info in here than I expected and it was like studying last minute for an exam that you had to ace. So the help that one gets here is greatly appreciated, at least by me. It may seem that the "newbies" are just sponging here but give us a few months and maybe we'll in turn help out the newer ones.

Lastly, I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me, like Lorelei. I like this place a lot for the friendly and helpful comments, unlike another place I shall not mention.
