Hi All,

I am hoping to solicit the advice of the many diamond experts on this forum regarding the following stones from Whiteflash and Brian Gavin.

Whiteflash:

Brian Gavin:

I am planning to set the stone in either a white gold or platinum setting.

Experts, which stone would you buy and why?

Thanks in advance!

The 1.52 BGD. It's the best value of those you've listed, being the cheapest but having about the same spread as the others in its range. Note there is a very small black inclusion at around 6 o'clock, which is keeping it from being "eye clean." I don't think this inclusion will be very noticeable in real life because it lives on the edge of the crown faceting where the diamond is very busy, and a prong can be placed near it, which will mask it even more.

Regarding the 1.6's, I think that's a huge price increase for not a huge difference in face up appearance.

I would opt for the 1.52ct BGD option, if these were the only choices.

Consider this option. Verify that this is eye-clean with Wink (at HPD), but it looks very likely that it is:

1.64ct, G, SI2

That is a larger stone, for over $2k less. Put those savings into a setting! In fact, last I checked, Wink will give a good percentage off of the setting (I believe 15%), if you purchase the stone via High Performance Diamonds. This should result in even more substantial savings, which you can put into a truly remarkable proposal or towards another big purchase! It's likely just as eye-clean as the BGD stone, as well.

Best of luck!
