Deciding between 3 rings, could use some advice...

I'm deciding between 3 Blue Nile Signature Round Diamonds. I'm going to go with a 6 prong platinum setting. I'm planning to purchase either tomorrow or Tuesday. Does anybody have a strong opinion about either of the 3? I'm particularly curious as to why Ring #3 is more expensive than Ring #2. Thanks for the help!!

i would go in this order.. ring 3, ring 1, ring 2

if it were up to me, id eliminate ring 2 all together

its actually a bit strange that ring 3 costs more.. the only things i can see that would cause it to have a higher price is that its girdle is medium throughout while ring 1 is thin to medium and that its 1 color grade up and also going by the gia, it''s less spotted than ring 1. one thing that should have caused ring 3s price to come down is the fluorescence but the difference in the spotting between 3 and 1 must outweight all of the differences.

with ring 1, you get more bang for your buck also with ideal cuts it should pretty much eliminate any colors from other angles. but again, ring 3 shows less spotting which could be a major factor with ring 1

I would actually go with diamond #2. With a grade of AGS 0, it is probably the best cut stone of all three and has the most sparkle. You can read more about AGS 0 cut diamonds here: http://diamonds.pricescope.com/agsideal.asp

Also, not to throw a wrench in your search, but have you considered looking outside of bluenile? And have you considered purchasing an eyeclean SI1 diamond as opposed to a VS2?

There is a 1.6 carat, SI1, I, cut above hearts and arrows stone on Whiteflash that is guaranteed to sparkle like CRAZY. Plus - it seems to be a better value (around $12k) than the other three stones you were looking at. Thanks for the reply. I have considered looking outside of Blue Nile, but I haven''t found something yet that I am comfortable with. I have purchased jewelrey from BN and a couple good friends of mine have purchased engagement rings there. Having a diamond that is VS2 or better gives me a stronger piece of mind purchasing a diamond online. I''ll take a look at the links you provied. Ideally, I''d like to have a 1.5 carat or better, H color, VS2, ideal cut for $15,000 total with setting.

Welcome to PS! I just ran your diamonds through the cut adviser, you can find a link to it in the tools menu at the top of the page. They all came out just fine, so you probably can''t go wrong with any of them. There is nothing wrong with fluorescence, just know that sometimes you might get a slight blue glow from it when its exposed to ultraviolet light. Personally, I would stay below I color, so I would throw out diamond 1. Now its just a matter of fluoro and whether or not you want it.
