I''m looking for a diamond for a necklace and am debating between these 2 diamonds. There is over a $300 difference between the 2, and when we''re talking about an 800ish $ purchase max for the diamond, that is a lot! Is the size difference huge? Is the smaller one worth considering? I know I have to make the decision, but is the smaller one a nice diamond? Which one would you buy if you were debating? Thank you!!!

I think the difference is substantial enough to be notable to the naked eye. I would go for the larger stone. Didn''t run the numbers for the first, but the 2nd has an HCA of 1, within Tolkowsky proportions, so it''s a winner in terms of cut too.

Both are well cut from the numbers but the size difference is significant. Diameter ratio of the 2 is 1.0: 1.1.

I don't understand the ratio part fully, but I'll take your word for it! I'll go with the bigger one. Thank you to both of you!!

And thanks to you Stone-cold, you found me the bigger one the other day!!

OIC. :p

The ratio is just the diameter of #2 stone divided by #1 stone diameter.

Part of the difference in pricing might be due to the 0.5ct mark jump. Diamonds tend to have a price jump at certain markers; 0.5 ct, 0.75 ct, 1 ct, etc.

It''ll be noticable to the naked eye. You made the right decision. Do we get a photo of this diamond?

It looks like I''m jumping in late, but I definitely think this one was worth the bigger price. I don''t think you''ll regret having the extra size it should be killer in person!! I can''t wait to see it!
