On the cusp of my first engagement ring purchase and believing quite well that diamond price is still like 10 times inflated:

While I will still bite the bullet and buy the ring, I'm having serious resentment at this silly industry.

I''d hit the resale market. I agree with you on new stuff. No way I''d pay those prices. There are plenty of distress sales of really good stuff out there.
