Americans want a change and we want transparency. What better time to debate the economy than in a public forum in the midst of the crisis? I want to know what both candidates propose.
What better time to show you aren't all talk and no action?

ETA: You know there is a desperate need to get *some* sort of plan going when Jack Welch predicts the worst first quarter in a very long time and is warning companies to completely restructure their economic plans.
But Indy, talking about how you'd change the economy is so much easier than actually doing it.
But there is literally nothing for him to do in the Senate regarding the economic crisis between now and Friday.

Anyway, Obama and McCain haven't exactly been star pupils in terms of attendance (although - and I need verification on this - I have heard that McCain has been absent more than any other Senator this term.)

The reality is that right now, Obama and McCain really can't do anything about the crisis. I sure want to know what their plans are when one of them takes over in less than 60 days, though ...
They may not have the solution to the crisis, but I don't think it'd hurt anyone if they worked together in Washington to help come up with one and I know they definitely won't have a solid plan to talk about at the debate. Neither candidates' economic plans accounted for this; i.e. Obama now says universal health care is no longer a priority. I plan to hear more of the same ol' plans from both of them with maybe some speculation about the financial crisis mixed in.

Yes, this is all a big ploy to keep Palin from having to debate Biden.

Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? I hope you can read my sarcasm!

LOL, this is just getting hilarious. Granted, I just had a margarita.

What exactly do people think these two particular Senators can do if they go back to Washington? Where are those Blackberrys that McCain invented. You mean to tell me with all this technology they can't stay in the loop? You mean to tell me, being absent for a few hours is going to make the financial crisis worse? Really? You mean to tell me if they were around for those few hours it would help? Really? LOL Let the debates go on. And I think it was quite classy of McCain to wait six hours after Obama initiated the join venture only to run to the media (you know, that ever so biased evil liberal media that's being soooo mean to his VP) to let them know that he wanted to put party aside to work on this (because yeah, it was your idea). Why, thanks McCain, you've only been in Washington for a few decades, surely you should have seen this coming so you could have prevented it! I don't need him to throw a hissy fit now. We're only a little over a month from election day. I want a freaking debate! Sooner, not later. Hell, I wanted it yesterday!

Bleh...I need another margarita.

I exist to serve..............................................(hurk hurk hurk. Anyone who knows me IRL would be rolling on the floor with their little feet in the air, laughing hysterically. Well, I mean.....THEY would be laughing, not their feet would be laughing, and some of them definitely DON'T have little feet....I think that sentence was poorly constructed, but I digress...)

OK...down to business:

45 oz per my friend's blender, so....

6 oz of good silver label tequila
3 oz of Cointreau
3 oz of Grand Marnier
8 oz of Corona Beer
12 oz sweet and sour - not concentrated
estimate of maybe 5 hand-squozed (yes, I just made that up) Key limes?

Whip up all but the beer, in the blender. Add the beer at the very end end. OH...and about 3/4 c of ICE CUBES in the blender too. (I seem to recall him using about 12 ice cubes from his built-in icemaker)
My personal preference is for less sweet and sour and a bit more beer - I don't like them so sweet, but if you stick with this, it should be pretty good. Serve the usual way.

ETA - this way when we debate the debates after they've debated, we'll all be too drunk for those upper cuts and roundhouse punches to actually connect. Wheeeeee!!

I have already made up my mind who to vote for. I don''t need debates to make that clear for me. Are debates really a factor anymore? Are people really fogged up about what they believe by now that a debate or a smear commercial or a smear article can sway people? I mean really, if you don''t know who you are voting for by now.....

I agree - I think in the past when people did not have the Internet to do their own research and technology only allowed information through newspapers, television, and radio people had a much more difficult time making a choice simply because the information was not there. No one has an excuse to be uninformed today.

And for all of these undecided people, is the Presidency just a "popularity contest"??? Sometimes that is how I feel about how the media treats all of this. And the grandstanding of the show hosts. Sometimes I think it is just to further their careers. I really turn off both candidates commercials when they come on, and the only show I watch on CNN is Nancy Grace, because I am obsessed with what happened to little Caylee Anthony!

Nancy Grace can be so addicting; I felt that way when the Holloway girl went missing.

Fortunately, I live in Indiana so I only have to deal with Obama''s negative ads since it''s a red state.

I''m reminded this morning of Clinton''s (unofficial) campaign slogan of 1992: "It''s the economy, stupid."

Instead of stomping one''s foot over a debate happening or not, Obama should get himself back to Washington to do his job. That is if he can remember where is office is, and which seat on the Senate floor is his.

Whoever can pull this rabbit out of his hat, wins the election. So the smart candidate would certainly want their name on the winning game plan.
