Dear dragonfly,

It was a pleasure to meet you on Saturday. You looked so beautiful... the sun glistening off your back, your bronze-toned skin, your hairy legs... you looked absolutely radiant as you waited to get something to eat. I got eaten alive by bugs while looking for you but it was worth it. Why did you ''take off'' in such a hurry? I was hoping to get another picture with your face in focus. ''til next time...

At first I thought this was a message to the PSer Dragonfly and I thought "creeeeepy..." but then I got to the hairy legs and stuff about the other bugs became overwhelmingly relieved.

ETA: but your photo is stunning!

I have a great photo of a dragonfly (or mayfly or something) taken down by a creek near my house. I was trying to post it but by the time I resize it, it''s tiny. Advice, treefrog??

Great picture.

I thought you were talking about Dragonfly (the PSer) too. It was a little odd starting out and downright strange with the "hairy legs".... then I scrolled down and saw the picture.

Silly Berry! That''s dragonfly411. I hoped the hairy legs part would be an indicator that something was amiss. Me = creepy... not a chance. Mischievious... perhaps.

Glad you liked the photo. Hope the real dragonfly411 likes it as well.

Hilarious.

Your next mission is to get some shots of diamonds or jewelry on wildlife. I would like to see possums with pearls, skunks with sparklies, and raccoons with rubies, please. Get crackin'!!

By all means, please share!

How are you resizing it (what software)? When I resize a photo, I specify a size. For forums where I never want somebody to have a very usable photo of mine to steal, I usually resize to 600 pixels on whichever the longest side is. I sometimes use a free app called IrfanView. It''s a small app, easy to use.

Yeah... sorry. It''s been a slow day.

Thanks TooPatient!

Thanks treefrog. I resized it on a program for my new camera, I think I figured it out now. For some reason, I couldn''t use Paint to resize it on the first try. I really need to read up on my new program!!

I thought so to. I was thinking the gay adoption thread was getting way out of hand if you were posting about her hairy legs!

The picture is really amazing and must have been difficult to capture.

There you go. Very nice!

It''s not a dragonfly. I forget what they''re called. They look and act similarly though. I have a nearly identical photo to yours from last year. They are gorgeous, whatever they are (although they have very hairy legs as well).

Baby Lily... 14 days? I haven''t noticed this in your posts before. Congratulations!

... and who will get the last laugh when I actually come through with this?

Probably not me as the skunk waddles off with the sparklies!

Can somebody loan me some pearls? I promise to take a great picture of them!

Well, as a treefrog, you''d know what this insect is!! We chased it and chased it trying to get it''s picture.

Hey... I''m a treefrog. We don''t eat those things... we eat... um.... we eat... uh... ok, we probably do eat them.

A little googling and it''s a damselfly. I looked it up last year when I found one by a stream. I just forgot. They have thinner bodies and vertical wings as opposed to the horizontal wings in my photo. I just looked and I don''t have my nearly identical damselfly photo on my work computer. I''ll look for it tonight. They usually return to the same areas so you can probably go back and find them again in the same spot.

Too funny!

Yes - as somethingshiny knows, they typically don''t stay in one spot for more than a few seconds so they''re quite a challenge to photograph. You don''t want to know how many pictures I have of blades of grass and no dragonfly/damselfly because they flew off just before I got the picture!

Thanks for the id! I was googling around myself but hadn''t found it yet. I had a feeling the wings were the identifying feature. Interesting that they go back. I should take my little boy back down to the creek to look for it again. And, yeah, grass pictures galore because it kept flying off!! This one was taken from a couple feet away with the zoom to keep from scaring it off.

Hahah -- yeah, I thought you meant our Dragonfly too. I began reading and thought, well, Treefrog''s certainly a friendly guy! Maybe a little too friendly...

Beautiful photo, as always!

I love dragonflys! This one was on the side of our house last year. It was getting cool at night by then and I thought it was dead and frozen to the house, but he warmed up when the sun hit him and flew away.

The crazy small pics here don''t do it justice but here you go shiny:

Me too. Haha. But I''m also easily confused. I was thinking, oh was there a GTG that I didn''t know about? But then I remembered your love of photography.
Neat pictures!

Awl, thanks Zoe!

I hope she isn''t upset when she checks in and sees a bunch of messages. Although it isn''t addressed to her, nobody wants to think they are getting that "Dear dragonfly" letter. Like the picture, "our dragonfly411" is awesome and I hope she finds it humerous.

Packrat - that thing just looks gigantic! Maybe you were just very close. Great catch!

packrat~ your dragonfly looks kind of deadly! It does really look huge!

treefrog~ Aww, they could be brothers. I love all your pics!

We were really close taking the picture, and it was very big too!

The colors on dragonflys are just amazing aren''t they? I love the shiny colors on the ones above.
