this egl card is dated 2006, do diamonds really hang out that long to be sold?

thanks

Looks very good!

I've heard EGL USA is fairly accurate in their grading, so this may very well be as represented. Bring it home and have an independant appraiser take a look! (assuming the place that's selling it has a good return policy)

And sometimes it takes awhile to find a good home.

thank you ellen, this is a bit like having someone check your work before you turn it in!! lol remember those days?

lol Yes, vaguely....

And you're welcome!

I doubt seriously that it is G VS1 at that price. I wouldn''t consider it unless you have time to get it to an independent appraiser within the return period. A true H&A 1.2 G VS1 will cost closer to $10,000. That is closer to the price of an I color stone or else a couple clarity grades lower.

HI:

I trust the clarity more than the color--have it independently appraised.

cheers--Sharon

ds, the price won't be anywhere near a GIA or AGS stone, though it is on the low end. But all EGL's are a lot cheaper.

And still, I've heard more than one expert say they are reputable in their grading.

Ellen, I know I have seen some EGL''s at GOG that were a little less. But this stone is about 40% less which I think is a red flag. Why would a cutter send a true H&A 1.2 G VS1 to EGL when they could get $3000-4000 more by sending it to GIA or AGS? I can buy into a 20% discount maybe, but not that much. But regardless, she needs to send it to someone like David Atlas who can accurately check the color, etc.
