Back in the mid-90s, there was some awful flooding in the Brisbane area of Queensland. A river about 30 minutes south of Brissie broke its banks, flooding the flanking Carwood Golf Course, After the waters receded, there were whispers of strange things in one of the course's water hazards, a lake right next to the river. It was a bit like Nessie, an urban legend -- until proper video footage started showing up! :o

I love the top comment on the Youtube video - in Australia, you're not even the top of the food chain on a bloody golf course! I've not been to see it myself, but SIL lives in Brissie and it's going on my 'to do' list for the next time I'm there!!

Thanks for the link. for some reason it doesn't surprise me :)

A golf course in a place i lived in the northern territory was right on the beach, in known croc territory :o We used to sit at the club house and watch the crocs on the beach

I saw this picture on a friend's FB page and it cracked me up. Pretty true i guess

Out of all of those, tiger snakes scare me the most, melave (despite the impressive number of sharks we've had on the west coast in the last couple of years). They're NASTY - get in their general territory and they never retreat. They'll hunt you down and bite you, much more of an aggressor than other snakes that bite for protection.

And let's not forget the brown snakes, taipans, mulgas, copperheads, black snakes, and dugites. :knockout:

Oh i HATE snakes. hate hate hate them!!!!!!

I was walking to the work car after a cyclone one year, and i was texting the OH and one slithered over my boot!!!! I pooped my panties!!! ( well not literally, but you know what i mean)

I suppose growing up at the beach, nothing in the water scares me too much (though i did get chased by a sea snake once :) )

But snakes......... Hate them!!!!

Crikey! What a startling sight on the golf course! I'd think I was hallucinating. At least they don't come get you like alligators do.

Love how buddy is just lounging on the edge... oh... yah... I'm cool....!!!

That poster is amazing! Lots of fodder for nightmares in there!! hahaha!!

I can't believe they left one of our scariest animals off that poster (nor can I believe I forgot about them until now): DROP BEARS!

what is a drop bear?

Do they hide in trees, then drop on prey below? (No idea, that just sounds logical to the name!)

Exactly. You *think* they're just a normal koala until - BAM! Drop bear! :errrr:

Drop bear. Funny story to scare tourists.

Not to be confused with this.

I really enjoyed my time in Oz HOWEVER I could never let go of the idea that most things that might kill me were really small and poisonous! There should be a picture of a blue ringed octopus (I think that's what it's called). I'm from the Rockies in Canada, anything that's going to kill you, YOU WILL SEE IT IN ADVANCE! (unless it's a mountain lion then it might sneak up on you)
