I have been doing losts of reseach and visiting several stores. Up to day I have limited my options de a De Beers vs. a Bulgari engagement ring.

Bulgari: Venezia-Torcello ring 1.02 cts, E, VS2, very good cut, excellent polish

De Beers: 1.04 ctss, F, VVS2, excellent in all aspects.

Evidently the De Beers ring has a much better stone, but the Bulgari ring by itself is much nicer and modern. It strikes me as a better piece of jewel.

Now, my question is if the difference significant? Would you go for a better brand-original design, or for the traditional solitaire with a better quality stone.

HELP!!

Well, if we saw each of them, maybe we could give an opinion on how each design appears to us. The one thing to remember is that classic is never a wrong choice, and goes with most w-bands.

Both stones are good stones, no question. What do you like? What does your FI like?

I dont know..., humm..., let see...

Bulgari..., creators of exquisite jewels since 1884---

DeBeers..., a mining and ex Diamond cartel since 1888---
New to the retail scene since 2001...

I think if I had to choose between the two..., I would easily go with the Italians...

But thats just me...

yeah, I agree with DiaGem

The Bulgari hands down. It's going to be a gorgeous stone either way (don't listen to the DeBeers hype, just get the numbers on the stone for us). And the setting is TDF (although my personal favorite is the Guidecca by them).

Here's the Bulgari for reference.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. So stylish, you''ll really know you have something special on your hand.

Thanks so much for your advise. I am inclined towards the Bulgari myself, I think the design is original. I personally like more stylish settings, I was even considering a princess cut but decided to go traditional. In any event, a lot of my fiance''s friends are getting married and I want her to feel great about her ring.

The price for each ring is very similar, both would be around $15k (which is a great effort for me). I could also get a Classic Solitarie Cartier 1.01 ct F, VS2 for around the same price. But I think that between Cartier and Bulgari, the Bulgar

Again the specs are:

Bulgari: (Venezia-Torcello ring) 1.02 cts, E, VS2, very good cut, excellent polish. Round stone.

De Beers: (classic solitaire) 1.04 ctss, F, VVS2, excellent in all aspects. Round Stone.

THANKS!!

The bulgari one sounds lovely :)

- but you can also maximize your budget by going with a non-designer vendor and a bigger stone of the same (or better) quality. We''d be glad to help (the Rocky Talky section is great for this) if you''re interested in seeing what else is out there.

Neither, go with whiteflash, GOG or some other "ideal" cut stone vendor. More for your money and better sparkly.

Just my 2 cents.

HI:

Bulgari--I admired many beautfiul rings in their Beverly Hills store this summer. My DH is still enjoying his B-Zero ring he wears as a wedding band. Many times, the "brand" is "just" what you are looking for.

cheers--Sharon
