DBTY bracelet dilemma

Dear PS'ers, I am thinking about purchasing a DBTY from WF and want to know if there will be any visual difference between 0.14, 0.17 and 0.20 ct diamonds. I am thinking about 5 diamonds 2 inches apart. I would like a platinum setting but because this is an unplanned purchase, I don't want to spend a lot. So looking to 18k yellow or rose gold options.

Any suggestions? Does anybody have a DBTY with 20 pointers?

Here is one of my favorites....m-2-b's platinum WF dbty bracelet! So pretty! Hopefully they won't mind me posting the thread. I think this bracelet is gorgeous & the thread has nice photos to give you an idea of proportions. Hope this helps.

I really love this one..because now it is mine!!! m-2-b was getting two new bracelets and sold me hers as we both have platinum long dbty necklaces and her bracelet is a perfect match for my necklace, too!

I will tell you this, I would not do under 15 point stones. My necklace has 14 pointers and I prefer the 15 point stones in my bracelet.

Honestly, I would probably rather have 7 15-pointers over 5 20-pointers. My bracelet has 6 15-point stones which is also a good compromise.

But if you go for just 5 stones, I would do 17 or 20 pointers, definitely.

One more thing, they will not be 2 inches apart. A standard bracelet length is 7 inches.

If you do it with 5 stones, I'd start with one in the very center, and then I'd go out 1.25 inches from there for each stone on the sides. I think that would leave one inch on each end with the clasp in the center. If you want less on the ends, then do the spacing 1.33" apart from the center.

One more thing, if you really want platinum, price it in platinum, too. I am so glad I went with platinum!

I am surprised to know that there is difference between 14 pointers and 15 pointers. I will see if WF can price 7 15 pointers for me

Good advice... I will do that. I did price it out in platinum and checking to see the difference in price if I went with gold instead. I will now have to make a decision on 7 15 pointers or 5 20 pointers.

Dimaondseeker2006, would you be able to take a picture of your necklace next to the bracelet so that I can see the difference in size?

I love your bracelet! It's just perfect! I earmarked this bracelet since I'd love to have something similar one day. I really like the size & your comments are really helpful on proportions. I'm so glad you got the bracelet from m-2-b and it has a home where it will be worn & loved. Now how do you learn to call dibs on PS when things get sold? Lol. :naughty:

Sure, let me see if I have enough natural light to do it!

Thank you!!! This was a case where we have gotten together in real life and she knew I wanted a bracelet to match my necklace! She was just ahead of me getting hers made!

Okay, this is not a great picture but hopefully you can get the size difference! By the way, both chains are 1.5mm which is larger than standard. We both wanted sturdy chains.

DS knows everyone on PS and she happens to be a great, reliable buyer! It was a win-win situation for both of us! ;))

Wow! Both very pretty! I do see what you mean about the size difference though DS. It's really helpful to see them side by side. I really hope to come to an annual get together in future. It's wonderful how people get to meet & be inspired by the different jewelry designs. I don't blame DS for snapping this up! :naughty: Sounds like it worked out perfectly for both of you. Plus we get to enjoy all the lovely photos you have both shared. :appl:

Thanks to Pinkprashu for starting this thread. :wavey: Very helpful especially learning about the sturdier chain.

I am very thankful and fortunate to have been able to get the bracelet, as m-2-b takes immaculate care of her jewelry! In fact, I told her I will take ALL of her hand-me-downs!!! I am afraid I may be reaching the end of the ones that I can afford, though!

I will add, WF does a beautiful job with their DBTY pieces. I highly recommend them for any DBTY jewelry.

Thank you so much for posting the picture. WOW!!! that is a significant difference. How is that possible for a 1 point difference?

I have one more question. Are tiffany DBTY chains 1mm or 1.5 mm?

I am leaning towards 5 0.17 ct diamonds. The price is the same for 7 0.14 ct diamons and 5 0.17 diamonds. What do you think?

Sheerah sent me this picture of 5 20 point diamonds and I like this look a lot and I like the spacing between diamonds. I forgot to ask her the chain diameter. Do you think this is 1 mm or 1.5 mm?

That looks to me like a thin 1mm chain. The 1.5mm is special order and you have to ask for it specifically.

m-2-b, do you know how much cost would the 1.5 mm add?

Yes, that picture is of a 1mm chain. M-2-b and I felt a stronger chain would be safer and stronger for a bracelet and a long DBTY necklace. I believe Tiffany uses larger than 1mm. I tried some on once and I do not think they were as fine as 1mm. I don't know the price difference because I never priced mine at 1mm and I don't think m-2-b did either. But it won't be a lot, I don't think, especially on a bracelet.

I have mixed feelings about the diamond choice. I think either is fine, but I personally like closer spacing and would go with 6-7 diamonds.

I agree that it is hard to believe the difference in size between the 14 and 15 pointers.

Excuse the blurry picture, but here is the Tiffany bracelet with seven 14 point stones, and I believe, the five 8 pointers. You can see the stones are further apart on the one with 5 stones. It really just depends on the look you prefer!

DS, thank you for that picture. I am leaning towards 7 0.17 pointers now. I will talk to WF tomorrow. This is such an impluse purchase and I really will blow the budget with the 7 17 pointers :?

So I placed the order with WF for 7 0.17ct diamonds in platinum. I chose the 1 mm size for the chain.

I am having second thoughts today about the 1 mm size :wall:  :errrr:

I wouldn't personally do the 1mm chain unless I was using small diamonds under 10 points.

I love the idea of seven 17 pointers!!! Tiffany's largest was 18 pointers but they did not have that one in stock. I love my 15 pointers so I can only imagine how nice 17 will be!

I got a quote for 1.5mm chain and it is now putting a lot over my budget so I am still debating. I asked a quote for 1.3 mm chain. What do you think about that?

The idea is to have it look similar to this - http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=21454079

But I heard Tiffany uses shallower diamonds in their DBTY's and so the diamonds in the link above may be larger than the ideal cut melee.

I didn't know 1.3 was an option, but I think that would be great! I think Tiffany's platinum cable chain is larger than 1mm, but I could not say the exact size.

Fingers crossed. Lets hope Vera can give me a good quote for the the 1.3 mm chain and if it is possible.

They cannot do 1.3 mm. Bummer. :?

Ahhh. I have no idea what widths platinum cable chain comes in. They may have to buy a certain amount to make an order and if it was something that they never use otherwise, I can see why they wouldn't be able to do it. How much more was the 1.5 over the 1mm?

DS, it was an additional $220 for the 1.5 mm chain. I trust your advice and did not want to regret it later so I went ahead with the 1.5 mm chain.
It should be here in about 3 weeks.

I wanted to ask you if you are enjoying the bracelet and do you wear it everyday? Also, can take some wrist shots of your bracelet to help with the wait? Pretty please.....
