Hi,
I'm new here, but I have found very helpful information and wanted to share.

I was looking for a DBTY, I was able to gather some prices from Tiffany, WF, and a few other online vendors. With some other PS member's DBTY necklaces for reference, I figured I wanted at least a 20-point, 7 stone necklace, spaced 1.5" apart. I liked 18" over 16" for my neck.
This is what I bought : 14K white gold, 18", 7 stones of 20 point each, H color, SI clarity. I went to the Los Angeles Jewelry District, found a jeweler who was able to make the necklace for me. The bezel has little dimples added around the circumference. I did not ask for quotes from WF, IDJ, or BGD. My necklace was $1200.

Wow! I love that with .20 pt diamonds! Looks gorgeous on you! Please share the vendor. A DBTY necklace is on my wish list, I would want the same carat weight as yours. Very pretty!

Oh!!! that is LOVELY on you! Very nice choice to go with the 20 pointers - they really stand out and fantastic spacing on you. And the milgraining --- PERFECTION!! All at an incredible price too - well done :appl:

Enjoy!

Very pretty and just the right length. I wear a 1.08ct solitaire 24/7 and was playing with the idea of adding a dbty. In one of the photos, it looks like a bezel is flipped. On the back, it looks like there is a ring of gold so just the culet shows. If so, does that help with flipping or with the culet poking your skin?

Beautiful!! I love a good DBTY - and that size is so luxe.

Thanks everyone. I really like the necklace too. I like that it feels very delicate, but suitable for everyday use.
On the back side, about 2mm of the cutlet shows, but I don't feel it poking at all against my neck. The stones still flip, but it still looks great flipped.

That looks fantastic! They are a great size and perfectly spaced. Lovely!

Thanks, Enerchi, milgraining. I didn't know what that was called around the bezel. I actually did not ask for it, I did not specify anything about the bezel, the jeweler added, and I was pleasantly surprised. I think it gives the DBTY a slightly different look.

I also did consider 30 point stones, but it felt too big for an everyday use necklace.

Hi Evalynn, your dbty is lovely. I really like the millgraining on the bezels. With the spacing, can you tell me with the distance between each bezel. Also you didn't mention who made it :wavey:

From the photos, your dbty necklace looks very pretty with great proportion and spacing. It looks lovely on you. In terms of price, you did more than excellent. I believe for the same price you paid, you can get only 7-pt diamond melees from BGD or WF. IDJ's is a little more affordable, but is no way close to the excellent price you paid (rough guess is double your price or more?).

Beautiful necklace! You made some really good choices ... I love the 20 pointers (which are a great size for you) and the length places the necklace just PERFECTLY. Everything came together wonderfully!!

WOW! I LOVE it! It looks just perfect on you - proportion, length, everything! Just beautiful! :appl:

Hi evalynn :wavey: I love the size of stones you chose!! I bet they sparkle like mad--you scored on that one, good choice

Did I miss it? Who made it?

Evalynn, please please please give us the name of your jeweler!!!!!

I worked with Kathy from Christian Jewelry. With my research here and on the internet, I had some rough prices of what was available retail. My experience with the LA jewelry district is usually their prices are a bit better. My Movado watch was less than that from Macy's, for the exact same model. Their prices are more wholesale, since some middlemen are cut out.

I thought the price was quite fair given my comparison. After I bought the necklace, I did still shop around, there was another store that offered comparable prices. So I know I wasn't in left field.

I asked Kathy when I picked up the necklace, and they have been in the business for 25 years, first in Koreatown and then in the jewelry district for the past 15 years. Its a husband/wife operation and I liked that she was not aggressive.

I hope this helps.

You did a great job with the specs, and they did a beautiful job putting it together for a terrific price! :appl:

Congratulations, and wear it in good health!

It looks great on you!
