And my dreaming doesn't cost me one either! It's been a rough couple of weeks and I've got two interviews tomorrow. So I thought... what would I treat myself to if I got one of these jobs. (After a few months of saving, of course).

Which would you chose?

1. ULTIMATE BLING BAND. I want a standalone band that I can wear instead of my wedding set. I have a few designs in mind, but the forerunner would cost about 5K.

2. Complete bedroom makeover. New custom headboard, nightstands, area rug, bedding (pillows, comforter, duvet, shams, bedskirt... the works), new crystal lamps, and a custom upholstered chair.

3. A little of each. A bezeled pear solitaire pendant and a budget bedroom makeover (home upholstered headboard, new nightstands, budget rug, Only the duvet and shams now rest of bedding later, glass lamps instead of crystal, and no chair).

What would you chose?

Either way, what I get will be a combination new job and birthday gift.
 
I'd go for the bedroom set. A good night's sleep is so important, what better than to do it in luxury? I wouldn't do the half-and-half option, since it wouldn't get you what you really want on either count. Whichever you pick, I'd go all out!

Bling band.

Bedrooms are for sleeping (etcetera) and that is it, for me. As long as the bed is comfy, that's it! But a big blingy 5-stone, which I think is what you allude to, is a big dream of mine too, and you enjoy it ALL DAY LONG and with your eyes open and the lights on to boot!

Wait, maybe some people have eyes open and lights on sometimes in the bedroom too... I am a boring married mother now I guess ;))
 
I'd go for the bedroom do-over, full-out version. I love my bedroom and would get a huge kick out of it being luxuriously decorated. There's always room for bling later.

I wouldn't do the half-and-half because then you don't really get what you want with either.

But, in any case, I hope you get the job! DUST!
 
It is your treat, so I vote for the band ring.

I like my bedroom to look good, but the makeover would not be a "me" treat. To me the band will last a lifetime, whilst the make over will only be until the next big decorating kick.

I send you dust by the bucket load for your job search and I hope you have the big decision to make soon!

This is a hard one. My instinct says go for the band, I think you would get more enjoyment out of it. I know that is something on my long term wish list.

However, I should probably disclose that I have not spent any of my own money on colored stones/jewelry because I am spending a lot of disposal income transitioning my home from a "student" home to a more adult home. So I know it has to be done sometime.

I would not do half and half. Also, I have cats, any my canvas covered head board only lasted a year. It is just too tempting for them.

Definitely the bling band. I agree with the others that a bedroom redecoration doesn't really count as a *me* present. But no matter what, don't do the half and half-then you won't be totally happy with either thing.

I would do the blingy band now and slowly redo the bedroom later. The bedroom is something you can do in pieces to spread out the cost.
 
#1 is my vote.

And I'm not just saying that because this is jewelry site. Bling lasts forever. That's why I would choose it.

But I can understand about possibly balancing out what you might do with the money because I myself am buying some bedding, some jewelry, and some clothes. Not necessarily in that order.

I'd do the full bedroom. Nothing like a beautiful room to help you get a good nights sleep and prepare you for the next day.
 
I'd do the half'n'half option: I might be biased towards the pear pendant, but I also think the slooooooow bedroom makeover is the way to go to most enjoy the process.

P.S. - What is your ideal pendant like, spec-wise?

I love bling as much as anybody, but nothing compares to the feeling of having a really relaxing bedroom that I love being in. It's nice to have a room you really look forward to being in.

Besides - you're a PSer. You'll get more bling at some point, why not focus on another way to bring yourself bliss for a little while?
 
Hmmm. Looks like you guys are torn too. ::)

I want the bedroom make over because my down time is spent in my bedroom. And having a great looking space will really be relaxing and fabulous. It really is a ME gift because my husband thinks the bedroom is fine as is, and as far as he's concerned there is no change needed till the end of time. And I will get joy out of it everyday.

The band is something I really want, but I will get eventually. If things go well, I still have an anniversary and Christmas this year, plus V-day next year. As princess pointed out, I am a PSer... so I will get the bling eventually.

As for the pear pendant-- I have my eye on a pear it's under carat (.80-.90) and beautiful. I'd just get the thinnest bezel possible and a really small bail on it. Just simple and elegant.

I'll post my bedroom re-do ideas in another thread and have you guys comment on them. And I'll post the bands I'm considering there too. So you can tell me what you think.

I'd do the half and half. Sure, you are not making yourself completely happy in either regard, but you are at least addressing both of your desires, even if not fully. That makes it feel like two rewards to me, instead of just one.

Plus, I think a bezel pear pendant sounds amazing! :love:

Huh - tough choice. I'd go with the bedroom makeover though. The ring sounds like a great idea (sooo pretty!) but I'd probably get more day to day enjoyment out of the room makeover.
 
I'd go with the bedroom. I just re-did mine and it makes me so happy everytime I walk in the room!!
 
I don't mean to complicate things, but I would go for the blingy band!

That being said, I don't spend time in our bedroom unless I'm sleeping.

Dust for that job!

Bling band indeed. The bedroom set will last as long as you enjoy the style still. That band will last forever.
 
Okay so... I've decided on the bedroom. BUT I sat down and with a friend and manage to trim the costs on the remodel in a good way (just found some much less expensive items that I like as much or better) and time the remodel over a few months, so... I'm getting the bling band too. Just ... probably for Christmas. That's IF this job comes up to scratch in the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed.

Now I'll have to ask you guys for votes on band designs as well, as the design will dictate the price and how much I will need to save.
