Can I get ballpark ideas of how much a halo setting for a 2.5 carat emerald cut would be? My budget is around $1500-1700. I would go the custom route because I like height and most halos I've seen are super low profile. I love an Eiffel Tower look!

Reach out to him as ask him for a quote based on your stone's measurements. He is very reasonable and he usually replies super promptly.
Another option may be IDJ.

I got a quote for a halo (the halo was not just around the stone, it was a little more ornate shape and I think required less stones then a regular halo)
for $1600 a few years back. It might have had more metal in it though...like the others above had said best way is to reach out to him. YOu may
be in the ballpark or maybe just a little over your budget.

Just don't set your stone too high...makes it much more likely to get hit on things. I'd recommend medium height for looks and safety.

If it is surrounded by a halo does that help protect the center vs if it were a high sitting solitaire?

A halo does usually help to protect the center stone but you dont want the center stone sitting too high out of the halo or have the halo too high
off your finger.

Yes, the halo protects the center stone, but you can do damage to your halo and may have to have the ring remade.

Those rings are the hand-wear equivalent of five inch stilettos !

Insurance works. Other protective measures - not sure...

What do you mean Valeria101? David Klass settings? Or halos in general?

High settings.

When you said you liked an Eiffel Tower look people are assuming you want a ring that sits up high. They can be problematic due to knocking and
hitting them on things. Even though the halo will help protect the center stone some, the halo and pave in them will take the brunt of damage if hit.
You have to take into consideration losing pave stones. I think valeria is saying either set it low or make sure you have insurance to protect against
damage...but I dont want to put words in her mouth.

David Klass is currently resetting my much smaller cushion diamond (1 carat) and I'm paying the ballpark of what someone said above. It is reasonable considering my inspiration ring came from Beverly K design and was quoted for like 2400 or so. You can see my CAD on one of the recent posts to see what I am doing with mine, but keep in mind your stone is much larger.
