I need some encouragement people!

I'm off to clean the bathroom.

I hope I make it out alive. ;(

Good luck! How long since it's been done?

There were times in my long ago past when I found it easier to move. LOL.

I can relate, my husband's sink looks like it needs a shave.

I always get mad when I clean, so by the time I'm done (5 hours later), I'm good and furious.

I'm mad because I've already done it once, so why the heck do I have to do it again?!! And AGAIN?!!

I don't get that. . . . :nono:

(silly rant there, carry on)

Do you have wood floors? How do you clean them? I Should start a thread on that . . .

100% tile.

I sweep and mop.

But now it's a five minute break and off the kitchen. :?

Tile? Oh, lordy I hate tile! And carpet! And wood! And anything else that is stuck under everyone's filthy shoes and feet! Especially if it's something I have to clean!

Put the music on real loud, that's the only way I can get through cleaning.

Oh man. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE :angryfire: cleaning with a purple passion, especially dusting, you kill yourself and 24 hours later, it's dusty again. NOTHING puts me in a bad mood faster. There are certain things like wood floors and glass-top tables I just don't have because they're too much work. You have all my sympathy Danny.

Thanks for the suggestion, iLander! I will do that right now!

Thanks for the sympathy, texaskj! I need it!

Ok, kitchen is done.

Next the floor. :o

(And after that a special surprise- stay tuned!)

Spray the shower after you have run it with hot water. Come back in a bit and rinse off the tiles..

I have a suggestion for hard wood floors in iLander's thread, this stuff rocks. I hate cleaning...

I hate cleaning too. I refuse to go in to my kids bathroom. I make them clean it. When they say something to bug me,(mostly the
14 year old) I give them the job of cleaning the downstairs bathroom.

The chore I really hate is dusting/cleaning the painted sides of the stairs. I don't know why but I hate it. Ok, yes I do, I have jammed
a few fingernails on the stair rungs trying to dust and clean them with a cloth. Grrr.....

Danny, I really thought you were going to post a video with tips and stuff... still waiting....

Done.

Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions!

I did the floor and I gave the cat a bath.

This isn't what I call my best cleaning job (I'm actually really good at cleaning).

This is what I call "hit the middle" when it gets to the point where you have to do something.

I didn't scour the tile or the tub. That will have to wait for another day.

Danny, fill the tub to the brim and add some laundry detergent (not the kind with added softener, or it will leave a slimy residue).

Leave it awhile, drain and rub over with a towel. Job done!

There. You now possess the sum total of my housekeeping knowledge.

Jen

Jen, I envy people who have people to clean for them. I admit it.

I read that William and Kate aren't going to have servants. You know what I think, they'll have people come in after them and clean. Somehow I doubt they're going to be spending their time vacuuming the floors and washing the dishes.

Oh, that's a good one. Cool!

Danny, well done!

Thanks!

When they say no servants, I suspect they mean no butler, footmen, parlour maids and the like. I don't for a moment imagine they're going to be doing their own housework. I could be wrong, of course, but I have a feeling they mean no liveried / uniformed live-in servants. Fair enough, I don't have them either.

Although the tub idea is handy..... what a waste of water?

Go, Danny, go!

I just finished doing three loads of laundry, ironing DH's shirts, washing the tub, collecting the trash from the various containers around the house and sorting into trash and recycling, and taking the recycling out to the bin.

Time for a PS break.

I agree. We use the same method Kaleigh described above.

I like doing housework, laundry and mowing the lawn and gardening.

I don't expect I'd employ anyone to do those even if I was rich.
There is something satisfying about doing it myself.
I also don't really like employees in my home.

(Notice I didn't offer any opinion about your choices.)

Well, I live in an area with alarming amounts of water, so I'm probably a little more careless with it than I could be. We do collect a lot of rainwater in barrels attached to our guttering to use for cleaning tasks, watering the greenhouse plants, washing windows etc. If you get as much rain as we do, these barrels fill faster than you can use the water sometimes. This is a good use of it, and I get a workout pulling the pump handle. If I lived in an area where water was scarce or metered, yes, I'd probably think twice.

I probably don't clean the bath often enough to make this an issue though - most of the time it gets a quick squirt with cilit bang and a wipe over.

Me too!
We should do How Clean is Your House live on PS, with before and after pics... I'd be an awesome candidate for that.

Sorry I opened this thread because now I feel guilty that I did not clean my bathroom today. I will leave it for Monday.

BTW, I hate to climb into the jacuzzi to clean it. We never use it. I should make DH clean it because he wanted it. Luckily DD cleans her own bathroom. Now that is one room I am afraid to enter.

Lastly, now with the snow I find myself vacuuming the downstairs more often, all because of those awful cinders that get tracked into the house depsite making everyone taking their shoes off in the garage.

So Danny what would it take for you to travel 12 hours to come to my house and clean it?

After I clean the showerwall tiles (about twice a year) I apply car wax and wipe. Then when you shower nothing sticks to the tiles and I can go 6 months without having to clean them.

Jen

Never thought about doing this. I may try it. I use Barkeeper's Friend to clean the tub.
