I knocked my ring on a chair today. It''s a white gold four-prong knife edge with a platinum head. One prong is very obviously out of "line" (not sure how else to describe it). It is much higher than the prong parallel to it.

Can something like this be repaired? Might it weaken that prong? Would I be better off just getting a new setting?

It’s nearly certain that this can be repaired without much trouble but there’s no way to be sure without an actual inspection of the piece. Take it to a bench jeweler and discuss it with them. In the meantime, don’t wear the ring as the security of your stone might be jeopardized. Then again, maybe this is God's way of telling you it's time for an upgrade of the mounting.

All kidding aside Karee, I knocked my ring really hard not long after I got my upgrade. One of my prongs was definitely moved also, but was easily fixed. I would imagine yours can probably be easily be fixed too.
