Hello to all!!!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Looks like we lost a couple of ladies-in-waiting- major to congrats to Island Dreams & Brittany!!!!

Ladies, I have been impossibly lazy- I stayed up way too late thursday night taking photos of my stone out of its setting and didn''t go to the gym fri morn. The weekend was a whirlwind, work on sat & saw our friends'' 3 month old baby- he looks like Brando in his good days!!! I hung out w/ my 2 year old niece all yesterday so I am officially babied out!!!! BF needed attention and dedicated tv time with me last night (Simpsons & Arrested Development on the TIVO) so I needed the extra sleep and did not go to the gym this am either!!!!

So now I need your stories of workouts & good eating to get me re-motivated! This is a tough week for me as I have to work in the company booth at the Javitz center fri-sat-sun and need to be in a good state of mind to survive!

We all stumble... you just need to try to not make it an excuse not to continue.

I''ve actually been pretty good. I worked out this morning and on Saturady for an hour with my trainer. I decided to concentrate on mostly weights with him since I''m too lazy to lift heavy ones without some pushing.

I got some extra inspiration this weekend too -- I watched my friend''s wedding video from three weeks ago. I look like a cow. I was so depressed. I swear, to me, I looked like I was pregnant. My bf keep telling me that I looked good and he didn''t see what I was talking about. Our friends who got married kept telling me the same thing. But I was so upset that I decided that can''t be this weight anymore. I''m technically not fat -- I''m a size 10, but I just feel disgusting and was so revolted at this video. I''m going to try to lose 10 lbs by my birthday in a little over six weeks. Since I don''t have a scale, it will be hard to gage, but I know for me a size is around 8 - 12 lbs.

So, it was a good and bad weekend!

FFF -- what booth are you manning at the Javitz center this weekend?

Hey Fountain,

I was SOOO bad this weekend. It was my Birthday and we just ate non stop. I went to "cabane a sucre" I think maybe in english it is called a Sugar shack? Basically maple syrup on everything. And then I had a cheesecake as a birthday present. It was the best cheesecake ever. So back to dieting again. Have to work out today. Grrrrr.... Feels like I gave up lots of ground.

I was fairly good this weekend... although the 6 beers saturday night im sure didnt help much. Have my first meeting with a personal trainer tonight. Im really excited about this, but the FI thinks im crazy.

I think he is more upset that i wont lift weights with him any more. Im just fed up with having to do what he wants. Ive explained several times, that sure, i can tone up my upper body, but i want to SLIM DOWN and loose major inches off my thighs and hips. Hes not a fan of lifting lower body with me and im not a fan of lifting upper body with him. And honestly, i never see any personal results in my upper body with what he does. I want someone to tell me what will work for *me*... not what worked for him when he played 8th grade football.

So for those of you with trainers... are they working with you on your diet? Suggesting meals or that you drink protien shakes etc? Are you happy with them and the results you have been seeing? How often do you meet with them?

I really like my trainer. I think it''s very motivating to have someone show you the proper way to do things and to help you do the right amount of reps...

Having a trainer will only help you as much as you put into it. When I''m in a slump I have a tendency to cancel appointments.

He doesn''t do any nutritional counciling with me, but I think there are so much information out there that we all know what to do to lose weight... it''s just a matter of doing it. Lower calories, whole grains, limited sugar, blah, blah, blah. Shakes and bars are fine if they work for you, you just need to keep track of the calories.

I see my trainer twice a week now. Although, at one point I was up to three times a week. Unless you''re using your trainer just to learn the proper techniques, I think going at least twice a week is most effective.

Hello Everyone -

I drank like a fish and ate like a cow this weekend. I had fast food on the way up to VT on Friday night because there wasn''t anything better available (poor planning), BF got girlscout cookies, and of course I had to have some that night too. Next day, for lunch after snowboarding, I had a veggie burger and fries for lunch, followed by a ben and jerry''s peace pop.

Went back out to ski (snowboarding was SO painful), then had beer, vodka tonics, and ravioli in a cream sauce for dinner.

The next day wasn''t quite as bad, but not great. Decent breakfast, though too big, no lunch because we were on the road and I wasn''t doing fast food again, only to arrive home starving and go to a bbq joint, where the vegetarian options are fat+carbs. I figured what the hell, had a dark and stormy, and we finished it off with ice cream. Not so good. I''m not sure what was going on on Fri and Sat. I just couldn''t get enough food!

It''s not all a loss though, I suppose, since I did get exercise. And today I met with my trainer - she made me pay for my sins.

I am absolutely going to be a good girl this week though, since trainer is measuring me for progress next monday.

FF - I know how it goes. Like ammayer said though, we can''t use it as an excuse to quit. Back on the horse with me?

Ammayer - Go you! I hope the added motivation pays off, although I have to say, videos make almost everyone feel horrible.

Alleycat - That restaurant sounds fantastic, no shame in enjoying your birthday.

Njc - Have fun with your trainer. I love mine. She isn''t harrassing me about diet too much...well, until today she wasn''t, but I know a fair amount about nutrition, so I don''t need information, just need to do it - I think if she didn''t know that she would be more than happy to provide lots of information. I know what you mean about lifting with BFs. I don''t understand why so many guys resist lower body lifting.

Personally I love squats! She is wonderful at keeping me honest, correcting my form, and keeping the workouts varied. She also stretches me afterwards, which is really nice.

Oh, I know what it is like to detest and obsess over how you look in pictures and videos- please remember that we are all our worst critics and that your goal is so achievable that you will be a skinny-minny & will feel wonderful about yourself by your b-day!!! Look at how well you''ve been doing with your trainer! When you start to feel discouraged, think of me gaining 100 lbs since my divorce and taking off and putting back on at least 50 of it over & over again...but now I''m determined to get 50 off at the least...we''ll all do it together!!!

This weekend I''m working our booth at Vision Expo- I work in the wholesale optical industry so this weekend it will be all about eyeglass lenses and not about diamonds

Blue Chica-

I am definitely back on the horse with you- I''m eating well today and I''ll be up at 5 am tomorrow.......

njc ~ I''m not currently working with a trainer but I did last year and loved it. I wish I could still afford it because I think I really need that kind of "accountability". She worked with me on my diet quite a bit ~ this particular group of trainers also employs a nutritionist and when I signed up I received a book w/ a specific eating plan/guideline customized for my particular goals plus lots of yummy healthy recipes. Speaking of... I''ll have to get that out and maybe post a few of my favorite recipes!! I don''t know what it is w/ guys and lower body workouts either... It''s funny because I see so many guys at the gym with really muscular & highly developed arms, chests, backs ~ but when you look below the waist they''ve got these skinny little chicken legs & I''m so tempted to tell them to try a few squats and calf raises!!!

Like BlueChica & ammayernyc, I really enjoyed having someone to help me with my form because you can look at a video or a book all you want but it''s nice to have someone telling you that your back should be straighter or you can go lower, etc. For me, the best thing about having a trainer was the encouragement... When I''m working out on my own, I probably don''t push myself that extra mile like my trainier did ~ she managed to get that extra 1 or 2 reps out of me even when I thought there was no way I could do it so I loved being able to accomplish more than I thought I could...

As for this last weekend & week... eh, not bad, not good... The weather was nice so I went for a few walks around the lake but I didn''t really push it very hard. My FI is a big hunter so we have a huge deep freezer in our kitchen full of meat so he decided to cook out all weekend. Most of the time that is a good thing, because he hunts deer and elk (EXTREMELY LEAN MEATS, to the point that I have to add a little oil to the pan when browning because it is so lean) but a few weeks ago he went on a wild hog hunt... so we mostly ate pork chops all weekend...

But, today is a new day right?!?!
