Holy cow... what time do you go work out?!?!?!? Im east coast (DC), but i dont work out until after work. So i usually report a day late. And what time i post depends on the kind of day im having at work.

Last night went to the gym and did 30 min on the eliptical. Ive been using the interval program it has and i like it. I keep telling myself im going to try the arc trainer... but it needs to be a slow day at the gym just in case i dont like it. Maybe this weekend! Also did arms and chest yesterday. Mondays are always SOOO crowded at our gym. Im going to make another appointment with a trainer as well.

So far ive been to the gym every day since Friday! Making up for all that lost time from not being able to move!!!

Matadora, it was a lazy day and you did an hour and half!

I can''t possibly imagine what a tough workout for you is!

I had my trainer this morning so I did an hour of weights and calastenics. I''m nervous that he''s not pushing me too hard since I''m really not that sore. But every time I tell him I could do more he says that I have lots of sets to do and that I shouldn''t add weight. I almost feel like getting a new trainer... but I prepaid for my sessions and have a lot left. Maybe I''m just too anxious?

I''m thinking of going tonight too since we don''t do that much cardio together. I think I''m getting a little obsessed...

It''s only been a week since I had my revelation (seeing my pregnant-looking self on my friends wedding video), but I expect that I should be able to lose so much weight so quickly. My bf is being really supportive which is really nice. He keeps telling me how proud he is that I''m getting up every morning to go to the gym. I just hope I don''t give up because it''s not happening quickly enough...

amma...if you are doing lots of sets, then you are burning fat, but if you do fewer, heavier sets you are building muscle and that''s what makes you sore.

I''m proud of you too, there is no way I could get up even earlier to work out in the morning (I get to work at 7am). Also everyone has a time of day that is best for them...for me its in the afternoon right after work.

Hey ya''ll I am a college student
34.gif
so my schedule varies day to day. So I am at the gym by five am
20.gif
most mornigns for my cardio and my trainer and I meet up at 6 and do weights until 7am. That way I have enough time to shower and get dressed before class regardless of the day of the week. I have to go in the mornings cause I want to go at the same tiem every day and between labs, volunteer work and placements I barely have time for homeowrk in the evening. I am hoping that I will be able to lose the 54lbs I want to lose before grad school interveiws. Healthy looking people are perceived as more in control, better organized and more efficent. Where as fat or heavier people are perceived as sloppy disorganized lazy and unispired. I hated reading that but I did find it useful. I swear if I dont lose the weight this time (I gained weight at fat camp
29.gif
) I am going to drop all of my savings for abdomnioplasty and have my tummy chopped off.....beh I loathe being round. At least my bf is super supposrtive, bless his heart
30.gif
. He is 6'' even and 150lbs and doesnt understand not beign able to eat what you want all day everyday. Oh well class time for me! Have a great day!

My bf is the exact same way! When he wants to lose weight, he just thinks about it... so easy for him. His only physical activity is playing golf... which I recently read burns a fair number of calories, but not nearly the amount that it requires to actually lose weight.

It''s sad, but I''ve been dreaming about liposuction... it''s that patience thing again. Typical New Yorker I guess. However, I just read that you''re swollen for about five months after the procedure so I figured it''s silly to get it done before the summer. I just want to be able to wear a bikini and not hate myself...

I agree... i think we are all doing great! Unfortunatly its not going to happen over night (i wish it would though!), but i think we are all getting a good workout and making progress.

I picked up the current issue of Shape magazine last week and have been reading through it. I know to loose weight you need to consume less calories, but the way they explained it, its totally clicked. To loose 1-2 pounds a week, you need to create a 3,500 calorie loss in a weeks time which is 500 a day. You dont have to cut 500 calories from your diet (some people wouldnt be able to eat!), you can do it in a combo. Example: If you cut 200 calories from your daily consumption (not having that cookie someone set out down the hall) and then go to the gym and burn 300 calories... BAM! Youve reduced your calories for the day by 500! You can also add up from day to day. Say you couldnt make it to the gym today, but you skipped that cookie AND your whole milk jumbo latte saving yourself 300 calories. Add in you had to walk to and from the bus stop, 10 min round trip, maybe 75 calories. You just need to need to make up the remaining 125 before the week is over! Make sense?

Keep on keeping on and we are gonna look HOT!

Hello everyone,

Great job today, everyone''s being so consistent!

Sorry I missed posting yesterday, I wasn''t on the internet at all. However, I did do a lower body workout with my trainer. I am not that sore, but here''s my theory (which ammayernyc might find useful) - in the past I''ve noticed that when I''m getting back into shape, I''m very sore for the first few workouts, and then, if I''m consistent, the soreness dwindles off pretty rapidly. If I radically change up my workout, then the soreness comes back. So maybe my trainer needs to mix it up more? Or maybe I am recovering more quickly since I''m in better shape.

Today I did an hour of cardio. I really pushed it on the treadmill, doing wind sprints, so I felt good about that.

I want a quick fix too. It''s hard realizing it will be months before I''m where I want to be. But I suppose that as long as I''m further along each week than I was the week before then I will eventually get there.

I know I ought to be looking at somethign acedemic but where would the fun in that be? About the weihgt thing I Have been dieting for just over three years now! ( Ip put on 35lbs first semster of freashman year and havent been able to lose it and have bumped up to 175...
7.gif
) And I havent acutally lost any weight at all, the doctors were worried and have run all sort of blood tests but so far nothing other then my iron is always way low even after shots
7.gif
. To be honest I couldnt care less what I look like in a swimsuit I only go in my parents back yard with my younger siblings (4&12) and my BF. For me it is all about grad school interveiws and being able to wear a single digit size suit
30.gif
. And honestly five months of ugliness in comparision to just over 3 years not such a long time by comparision. But I really enhjoy the exercise it makes me feel better about myself and it isnt too bad having to get up earlier in the morning. This is going to saound alittle nutty but I want to be my goal weight when Jeffrey proposes. I ahve got to go before my prof sees how I using hte comp

Matatora - You said the doctors have run all sorts of blood tests. I assume that includes a thyroid function test? (TSH usually, sometimes free t4 if those words mean anything to you) If that''s the case, you may want to ask what the actual results were because normal results for TSH levels (according to the doctors) are between .5 and 5 (sometimes even up to 5.5)...BUT in actuality, anything over 3 is borderline, as you can see here: http://www.thyroid.org.au/Information/NormalTSH.html I''ve been hypothyroid since age 12 and I found out last year that I''d been riding the 5 line forever. Basically they didn''t want to give me more because technically I was within normal limits, even though I had dry skin, was cold all the time, was tired, gained weight easily and had a hard time losing it...all classic hypothyroid symptoms. Finally I bitched and bitched, they raised my dose quite a lot, and now I''m at .7 and I finally feel normal.

Anyway, you aren''t crazy for wanting to look great for the proposal, there will likely be a lot of pics around then. Nor are you crazy for wanting to be looking good for grad school interviews, as every little bit helps!

I''ve had ''iffy'' thyroid results for a long time yet every doctor I''ve ever gone to has said that it is not what''s affecting my weight gain or difficulty losing. Very frustrating. Even the specialist agreed. (The sad part is that I''m upset that nothing''s wrong with me b/c if there was something wrong with me, then I could take a pill...)

I too am anticipating a proposal sometime soon (hopefully girl soon, but I''m realistic)... so I''m preparing for that! However, I''m telling myself that the main reason I''m working so hard to look good is for me... not for him!

Go girl-power!
