Hi Frenchgirl,

Do you mean is there a visual difference between these colour grades?

D, E and F are all in the colorless range but D will be the whitest with F have the most color. Realistically, the average person won't be able to tell the difference between the 3. Some will be able to tell the difference when they are side by side.

There is a lot of difference between D and F color?

Hi Frenchgirl,

To the naked eye we can make the difference?

Not to my eyes, the majority of people would not be able to distinguish between them unset and its even more difficult when mounted in a ring. This depends though on the size, shape, cut quality and lab grading of the diamonds concerned of course but assuming reliably graded and well cut round diamonds, there would be negligible difference.

I will post some videos for you but use as a guide only as a computer monitor can't depict colour accurately, if you are unsure it would be best to view some GIA or AGS graded diamonds in person of similar size, shape and cut quality.

As I mentioned above, the average person won''t be able to tell the difference between a D and a F. However, if you want to compare a D, E, and F side by side - you may be able to see the difference. It won''t be a huge difference.

No, you can''t. Only in the right lighting, on a white background, and face-down can you perhaps tell the difference.

Ditto.

Really the only difference is price. All three grades are colorless

I don''t think I would ever be able to tell the difference between a D and an F, even if they were loose stones under ideal lighting conditions. Some can, but I think most can''t.

I have an F diamond. it''s very white. Looking at it even from the side, it looks like an ice cube--very transparent.

It''s AGS graded. I have a friend who has a D. My F looks whiter than her D, but hers is not graded by a lab and also hers is set in yellow gold and mine is set in platinum. I don''t know anyone else who has a D, and have never seen a D graded by the AGS or GIA. My friend''s diamond is still very white.

My diamond is a .65. I read somewhere on this forum that the size makes a difference. That under a carat, D, E, and F will look more similar than when you get into the larger sizes. That an F over 1 carat may have more color than a D over 1 carat. I do not know if this is true. And then there is the question of if you would notice it, if it were not on white paper and upside down (which is how grading is done).

Good luck with finding something you like. You might still like to have a D, even if an E or F looks the same, because you like knowing you have a D, and that''s fine. I think few people in the U.S. have D (because more people here tend to spend money, when they have it, on size) but there is a whole thread devoted to D colored diamonds in ''show me the ring'' and you might like to look there (keeping in mind that your monitor is affecting what you see). There are some VERY pretty rings on that forum. I think the prettiest ring that I have seen on Pricescope is the one shown on page 2 of this thread

https://www.pricescope.com/forum/rockytalky/flawless-vs-internally-flawless-t42862-30.html

but that''s just my taste, yours may be different.

I have seen several Ds in person and I can tell a difference beside an F. I own a high E and a F both GIA graded and I can tell the difference although one is a cushion and one is a RB so not really comparing apples to apples.
