When they showed me the stone they said it was an ideal cut. Will he have the info i need to find out or should i have it appraised. When I went to purchase this diamond I knew basic info about diamonds in general. After reading these forum posts over the past few days I fell I may have purchased this too quickly. I put 50% down while they were going to mount it for me. Now I am nervous that I may have been taken or if I want to back out to shop around more or lok at other dioamonds that the jewler will try toi screw me...ANY Advice would be great!
I agree you don''t have enough info to assess cut quality, the Sarin report if you could get it would be a big help. It''s a big purchase, I would really try to get as much info as possible before commiting to this diamond, as Kaleigh said the independant appraisal would be a big help. However if you have seen it and love it then it could be worth pursuing, but this is a large purchase so make sure you are positive it''s the one. It''s easy to buy quickly and then spend a lot of time worrying you could have done better. BTW the Ideal Cut statement doesn''t always mean much, it can be a loose way of vendors describing their better cut diamonds, not actually Ideal Cuts in the correct sense. Also did you have your heart set on a VVS diamond? You could go lower in clarity to a VS or SI if the vendor says it''s eyeclean and have a great looking diamond for less money. This choice is entirely up to you, just to let you know you have other options and a bit of room to manouever.
