JA is trying to upsell me from the diamond I was considering, suggesting the cut was better, inclusions were less noticeable (I didn''t notice them in the first diamond), and it was AGS rated.

I was originally looking at this diamond:

Shape: Round
Carat weight: 1.11
Cut: Ideal
Color: H
Clarity: SI2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 61.8%
Table: 55%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Medium, faceted
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Faint
Measurements: 6.62*6.65*4.10

JA is suggesting this diamond:

Shape: Round
Carat weight: 1.16
Cut: Ideal
Color: H
Clarity: SI2
Certificate: AGS
Depth: 61.7%
Table: 55%
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Girdle: Slightly thick, faceted
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.73*6.87*4.18

The difference is $200. Should I spend the $200 or keep it? Thoughts?

whoa, 2nd stone is nice. i''d generally go with their professional opinion.

If they're looking directly at the stones and telling you one has less noticeable inclusions, I'd believe them. The AGS stone (1.16) looks really nice - for $200 I'd probably go for it.

Just an FYI...my friend just bought a stone from them and they actually talked him into a better stone that cost him several hundred dollars less than the stone he originally put on hold. He was looking at a G SI1, and they found him an F SI2 that was H&A...and saved him a considerable amt of cash. So for $200 if they're telling you it's a better looking stone, I'm inclined to believe them.

Absolutely agree with the others - for $200, totally worth it. For what you''re already spending, $200 is nothing on top of it for a much nicer stone.

Yeah, I''d definitely go with the stone they suggested. $200 is chump change with the $$$ you''re spending, really.

I agree as well. After purchasing from them I TOTALLY trust thier judgement. They found 2 stones for me in my price range. Both were gorgeous I just chose the one that "spoke" to me. I really don''t think he would steer anyone astray and like the others said once your spending that much another $200.00 is not a whole lot for a bump in quality!

Doesn''t sound like a bad deal to me.

I''m sure everyone here can predict that I''d advise you to get the one with the least visible inclusions! So yes, it would be worth more than $200 to me to get a more clean SI2.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I''ll go with the JA-recommended one.

Great choice! I would have done the same.

I agree, I''d pay the extra $200 for the nicer stone.

Good choice~! I''d go with an AGS000 anyday now that I have one---and the less noticable inclusions is GREAT, LOVE that it''s an H SI2, my favorite combo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the general sentiment. Can''t wait to see pics.
