No. Actually, no stone scoring 2 or less is automatically a winner. Gary specifically states it''s not to be used to pick a stone. Once you get a desirable score, it''s time to move on to more info, such as Sarin, IS pics, etc.Date: 9/10/2008 8:06:20 AM

Would these numbers from the cut quality search tool pretty much guarantee a really beautiful stone? Would any stone that comes up in the search tool scoring 1 or less in the HCA category going to be winners?

Stones I''ve seen with scores less than 1 usually have somewhat shallower numbers, which can have head obstruction/contrast scintillation issus. But that''s not a given. Again, each stone has to be evaluated on an individual basis.
The stone you have scored could very well be a beautiful stone, but more info is needed to say for sure.
Basically stones scoring 2 or below are then considered to be worth further evaluation with Idealscope, trusted vendor input etc. It is an elimination tool, so usually diamonds scoring over 2 are considered to be lesser performers - however in some cases stone which do score over 2 with top symmetry can still be worth considering ( to muddy the waters a bit!) But if you have a diamond with Idealscope images and other cut quality aids, and vendor input then the use of the HCA is limited.Date: 9/10/2008 9:08:33 AM

It is a great guide to get you started...it should weed out truly non performers to begin with?
In the end I am thinking you must rely heavily on the online venders and what their eyes see for you after finding out everything else looks like a go....
