Hi all -
I am (unfortunately?) in the process of selecting a new diamond to replace my engagement ring that was lost last month
Thankfully we settled with State Farm (though not without a bit of drama- after researching this board I definitely think we will insure the next ring through Chubb, but I digress!) and we decided to pursue an upgrade.
I love cushions, and I love radiants. Well, let me say my original *dream* diamond was an 8x7mm rect mod. brilliant, with that bucket of crushed ice-style faceting. BUT as of late, I have also grown to love cushions - more recently, thanks to all the gorgeous cushions I''ve seen while lurking on this site for the past few weeks. Now I am torn!!!
The store I am working with on this claim is bringing in a few diamonds for me to look at next week. Last week he brought in the "first round" of stones, out of which only one really and truly spoke to me. I can''t stop thinking about this stone!!! And what has me so torn is that it is *so* not what I thought I wanted - it is more of a square cushion and it has that lovely chunky, old-cut style faceting that is the exact opposite of the original radiant I thought I wanted! But like I said, I keep coming back to this stone in my mind, but I am having trouble distinguishing whether it is just the part of me that needs immediate gratification, or if I really just love this stone - if that makes sense!
So, my question for the "experts" - how does this stone look on paper? Any major callouts or concerns from a purely numbers perspective?
2.03 cushion modified brilliant
7.55x7.3x4.71mm
GIA cert
I SI2 (totally eye-clean, the grade-making inclusion is a carbon/crystal combo that is only visible from the pavillion when you loupe the stone, off to the side towards the girdle and not in the center)
Girdle - med to thick, faceted
Depth 64.5
Table 63
Culet - None
Polish/Symmetry/Fluor - G/G/None
Crown angles < 25 degrees (huh?)
Price $9400 (before deducting the claim settlement amount, of course)
Thoughts???
