I''m new to the forum and had some questions about "Cut Corner Square Brilliant" stones. One of the vendors on this website was trying to explain some of the characteristics of this cut and I''m a bit confused.

1) They said it had the light performance of an AGS0, but it wasn''t an AGS0 stone...how is this possible?

2) The prices on these seem pretty reasonable compared to other radiant cuts on the market, any reason for this?

3) Does anyone own this cut? Pictures in a setting would be great (pave?).

I''m looking for something in the 2 - 2.5 carat range, E - G in color, and something eye clean with great light performance. I was wondering if this cut was exclusive to one of the vendors on this site, or if there are numerous vendors that I can shop around at. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a total guess ... but I *think* AGS only label RBs & Princess cuts as 000 ... that those are the only two cuts who have specificiations "set" yet. There aren't AGS000 Emeralds or Pears etc yet *either*.

ETA: Have you seen the Tiffany Lucida cut ... I just love it. It is a square cut cornered mixed cut (brilliant pavillion with step cut crown). There's a premium for the Tiffany name but its the prettiest square-ish stone I've seen besides Asschers (I have an asscher e-ring).

I don't love Cut-Cornered square brilliants *as much*. They are *very* similar to princess cuts (IMO) and in the size you're looking at ... I dunno. I'm partial to Lucidas I guess.

An AGS 0 light performance rating for a cushion on the round scale would be terrible, and probably just bad for that shape on a princess scale. I think you have some wrong information.

Deco - the Lucida''s I have seen are rather leaky - you can even see this on many of the Tiffany ad''s where the blue background is clearly seen through the table regions of the stones.

Drcpa the best method with these stones is to look at lots and learn, and use an ASET scope or images from one.

Thanks for all of your comments...I''d still like to hear other people''s opinion on this cut. Has anyone purchased one of these stones? How do these compare to other "radiants"?

Thanks,

do you mean Whiteflash''s X-Factor?

I was referring to the Cut Cornered Square Brilliant''s at Good Old Gold, but it looks like Whiteflash''s x-factor is similar. Does anyone know if these cuts are different? Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

DrCPA
