I was going to ask if this cut existed and then I found this:

Ok, so a few questions. One, is this cut more commonly called something else? (If it''s *really* common then stop laughing!) Is it maybe more like a branded cut?

The GIA cert calls this a "cut-cornered rectangular modified brialliant" (which to my mind says "radiant" but I gather that "modified" can mean any faceting.) How do I find more stones like this one? I''m thinking that poking around databases probably won''t cut it.

Has anyone seen this cut in person?

Any thoughts on it? Meaning the overall cut, not necessarily this specific stone. I''m thinking that the long sides might look a little dead but I''m not sure.

Go to Whiteflash.com and look at their X-Factor diamond - it''s a cut corner square brilliant. Other websites sometimes sell this style as a square radiant, but the X-Factor is probably going to be much nicer :)

Scratch my last answer - I just reread and see that you''re looking for RECTANGULAR not SQUARE. Most places call this a "radiant" cut - they have them on blue nile in either square or rectangular shape.

Thank you. Yes, I checked into the Xfactor on WF but it seems that it only comes in square and I do want a rectangular shape.

I guess what I was trying to get at is that I''ve not seen this faceting pattern (which is, to me, "princess-like") in a cut-cornered rectangle. All of the rectangular shapes I''ve seen in person and online have the various "radiant" faceting patterns, not princess faceting. I''m just wondering if I might like this princess-style faceting better than the traditional radiant patterns.
