I ran the specs of my diamond through the Holloway Cut Advisor; I noticed that you can enter the pavillion as either angle or depth, and the crown as either angle or height. Just for curiosity''s sake I did it once with the pavilion angle and the crown angle, and then with the pavilion depth and the crown height. I was very surprised to get different results! Has this happened to anybody else before or is there an inconsistency in my report?

Here are the specs:
.949 CT
Diameter 6.4
Total Depth 60.2%
Crown angle 34.1
Crown height %14.6
Pavilion angle 41.2
Pavilion depth 43.3%
Table size 56.8%
Girdle thickness 1.6%

Also I would really appreciate it if somebody who has idealscope could post some pictures of what this stone looks like.

BluePea:

I would recommend using angles because Sarin measures them more accurately. If I remember correctly the HCA translates depth % into angles using trigonometric formulas. Depth Percentage also depends on the way the girdle of a diamond is measured and the measurement of the cutlet and the value not being 0.
A generated Ideal-Scope Photo through someone who has diamondcalc can be done, but an ideal-scope is an actual device used to view a stone. Hopefully someone will generate a IS Diamondcalc image which is a feature of this light ray tracing computer program.

Hope this helps...

Colored Gemstone Nut: Thank you, and yes, that''s what I meant, an IS Diamondcalc image.

I''d make one for ya but I''m working from my laptop at home and my DiamCalc requires a HASP key which is at work. If noone gives ya one by tomorrow and I remember (or if you pm me to remind me) I''ll be happy to make one for ya.

Regards,
