I've just *finally* ordered a legato sleek line setting for my princess diamond.

I've read a few reports of people customising the setting - having the diamond sit higher or lower or having the prongs thickened or thinned (is that a word?!) etc.

If I don't ask for any customisation, what's the default?

would you recommened making any requests?

Thanks

Raph, no worries. No specifications are required; most people just order the setting and trust that the experienced jewelers know where the stone should be seated.

If you had specific wants on the prong shaping, do talk to your rep.

As Allison says, you don''t need to worry about it, the jewellers there will not where to place the stone. It will look pretty much like the pictures on their website, but bear in mind, depending on the size stone you have, it could ever so slightly different.

I had my stone set as low as possible in their Classic Tiff setting, and although I notice the difference, I doubt it''s that noticable to anyone else really. We are talking mm''s or less.

If you are really concerned, you could maybe ask WF for some pics of your setting with the same sized stone, that way you can see exactly what it will look like.

Don''t forget to come back and post pics when it''s finished

I ordered the legato sleek lines and had them make claw prongs instead of the standard ones, just a taste issue. It was easy-peesy!

Thanks guys :)

Arunjajane - what''s the difference between claw prongs and the standard ones?!

Thanks!

Hi Raph - its really just personal preference, the regular prongs are also nice imo.

for comparison, here''s a pic of the "standard" version, (picture courtesy Dreamer Dacshie - hope she doesn''t mind)

And, a close up of my claw prongs - both nice imo, but as you can see only a small difference.

Raph, unless you have any real particular tastes I would take Allison's advice and go with the flow. I'm sure you will be very happy, its a well made to a high standard and a pretty setting.

ETA: ok sorry just realized that you're getting a princess - I would ask your rep about the prong choices, as princess corners need protecting.
Also, if you do a seach for "Legato princess" there are many threads with pics to give you an idea, hope that helps.
