I am interested in creating a custom 3-stone setting but am worried about whether the setting style I've chosen is susceptible to the stones becoming loose/getting damaged due to a lack of prong support. Whiteflash has agreed to work with me, but I would like to get some other people's opinions. The setting is going to be Platinum 95 with Iridium.

I hope the picture works.

Thanks.

My concern would be the girdles on the sides of the stone...I would think WF''s benchmen would be the best people to tell you whether it''s possible or not.

I know I have seen similar rings before, but I don''t know enough about design to know why something works and something doesn''t. I think WF will be very honest with you though!

I''m having a trilogy made in a very similar setting and while I was doing my research came across a few settings that are similar to your drawing. They are on the Pearlmans website so it may be worth speaking with them. Here''s the ones I found:

2.

3.

4. This is one that I found on my internet searches! Similar to your idea

That profile looks exactly like the ring I bought. Its a Scott Kay Crown Setting, and I think just about all of his have surprise diamonds, but they might not. You can check out the Scott Kay website to see more designs. But just to give you another look at one, here's a profile picture of mine. I'm sure Scott Kay wouldn't create a ring that tends to have the diamonds fall out, so you should be safe. The prongs in mine are platinum, but the shank is YG. Your design should work out just fine.

it''s a pretty well established design, so I doubt there are any problems. it has 4 prongs, just like many other settings. buy insurance.
