I am a long time lurker and occasional poster. I have recently been given the green light by DH to start the search for a new setting for my E ring.

I currently have a 1c. marquis solitaire set in a tiffany inspired ring with a tapered baguette on each side. After 10 years my ring is beginning to look shabby. I am hard on my ring and have broken a few prongs, worn the bottom of the shank almost through and have bent it into a shape that no longer resembles a circle. My jeweler has tried to help me maintain it, but it is past help with just polishing and reshaping.

I would not mind resetting the diamonds into a new version of the same setting, but that would not be nearly as fun as some of the things I have seen since finding pricescope.

While i usually do not consider myself a bezel or a halo girl, I have shamelessly fallen in love with a split shank ritani that I had seen on another thread. I would get the ritani, but the setting is for a pear and not a marquis.

I would like to know if you all think that this setting could be made to accommodate my stone and if you think this ring would look good with a marquis.

Also, I would appreciate any pics of similar ring that you all like, and if anyone has tried on this ring what did you think. I am trying to track one down to make sure I like it on my hand.

Thanks

Jazmine''s ring is one of my all time favorites!!

I really like the east-west setting for the marquise. I like split shank pave designs - I think it brings the marquise cut into the 21st century so to speak :) Good luck sounds like a fun project.

The first setting you posted is a Ritani. You might inquire with them as to whether they make a similar version ( or could) with a marquise.

I don't like the setting Jazmine posted because the prongs bother me. The pear tip is left uncovered and that spells trouble. It would spell double trouble with a marquise. I would only consider it if the head could be modified with prongs that cover the tips of the stone.

Jazmine's actual ring is quite stunning and is an E/W set marquise halo made by WF.

Thanks for the opinions ladies,

I love the setting you posted Jazmine, but agree with FG about the prongs and this ring will eventually become a rhr and I would prefer a ring with a lower profile and slightly less ering looking. The DH is warming to the idea a whole new Ering/Wring combo in about another 5 years. The setting you posted may eventually end up holding the 2 c. emerald cut diamond that I have been dreaming of.

FG, I was planning on contacting ritani to see if they could alter the ring to accommodate my stone but I did not know if they would make that major of an adjustment to the setting. Has anyone ever known them to do something like this?

If all else fails, I am a lucky soul who lives in Houston. I will send an email to WF to see if they could make me something as stunning as the ring they made for Jazmine.

Also, do you think that changing the shape of the bezel will change the setting enough to prevent copyright infringement of the ritani setting?

Thanks again

Last I checked the design has to be altered by 20% to avoid copyright infringement. You''re lucky to be so close to WF, am sure they can do a great setting for you. Also you can contact Bill Pearlman at www.pearlmans.com He is a PS vendor and sells the Ritani line. Good luck!! Sounds like a fun project.

While I really like the settings shown... they are pave. You said you''re really hard on your hands. And you''ve done alot of damage to your ering.

Ask people/do a PS search ask a vendor how pave will hold up.

Sorry I don''t mean to rain on your beautiful setting parade.

I have thought about how abusive I have been to my ring, but I think that is not as big of a concern anymore.

When I was first engaged I never took my ring off. I showered, slept, waited tables, and even worked in the yard with it on

. Now I cant stand to sleep with any jewelry on, never shower with it on, and am unable to wear it to work. Since I am unable to wear rings during the week now, I find myself forgetting to put them on on the weekends.

Since finding pricescope I obsess over its cleanliness and condition and know I will take much better care of this next one.
