Hi all,

I''ve been reading the various horror stories about dealing with Fay Cullen, and really don''t want to deal with that headache. In the communications I''ve had with Fay and associates, I''ve been less than impressed.

That said, my girlfriend has her heart set on a setting from FC -- 609M6D -- and I''d really like to avoid dealing with FC if at all possible.

Being a ring they don''t produce themselves, has anyone seen this ring elsewhere? Are there any custom ring makers that could/would make something like this? I''ve dealt with WF in the past and had mixed feelings, but mostly positive, and am looking for suggestions of other possibilities?

Thanks!

check to see if James Allen has that, or something similar. I vaguely remember...

Any custom place could do something just like that. I''d recommend to try Whiteflash first. I do know I have seen something stock like it before too...but custom can be very reasonable as well and then you can get it exact.

FC is a PITA...you are smart to stay away!

Single Stone in LA can replicate vintage settings. I''ve been to their showroom and their work is beautiful.

Ditto, Panda!! I love Singlestone''s work for antique-style pieces. I would give them a call...www.singlestone.com

Good luck!

I think Greenlake (GLJW.com) could pull that off with no problem. I can't say enough about their work. They were, and still are, an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Yeah, I'd definitely have it custom made somewhere else.

Greenlake Jewelers in Seattle does wonderful custom work, and their filigree and millgrain is to die for- that wire work filigree on the side is one of their specialties. Frankly the workmanship on the FC ring looks a bit not-so-fab, I can't tell from the pic if the "engraving" on the side of the shank really is faux molded engraving or just badly done. In my opinion the price is kinda high for what it looks like in the pic; it looks no better made than the $200 temp setting I got from Oxforddiamondco on ebay. (Sorry! The design is quite pretty though, I can see why your GF likes it, I like the style a lot too.)

It might cost a smidge more to custom make it but the FC price isn't super cheap either- I think you'll end up with a lot better workmanship going through Whiteflash, Greenlake Jewelery, Singlestone or ...?

ETA: haha, pauly beat me to the Greenlake recommendation. They're definitely the place I think of for that wirework filigree.

Ditto, the others. This look could easily be achieved going custom. I would trust whiteflash, knoxjewelers.biz, engagementringsdirect, and goodoldgold.com to all do a good jon on this design.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I''ve contacted a number of the jewelers and hopefully will get this made relatively soon by one of them!
