Hello everyone!
First, I wanted to thank everyone on the site for all the information about diamonds, rings, and engagements in general; it has been a huge help. Second, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, feel free to move it if needed.
Recently I decided to take the next step and started the process of getting a ring. The only info I could get from my GF was a square cut and not the 3 stone type, so it was all on me. I was feeling pretty good about everything, thanks in large part to the info and insight from here, and finally settled on a custom design and stone.
They drew a CAD picture for me, I made a few changes, and was pretty happy with it. They started making it, and I went it last week to finish the paperwork/payment stuff. They hadn't finished it yet (Needed polishing, and the stones weren't set), but I got a chance to see it.
The girl helping me has been awesome, and I didn't have the heart to tell her....but I didn't care for it, at all really. So now I am kinda in limbo on what to do. I am hoping that with the stones in it will just look awesome, but it is so much thicker at the top than what I had pictured (The one they had in the case we had gone off for the design was a lot thinner because the stone was half the size, and the cad pictures were without the stone so I didn't get a good idea of the dimensions).
I am debating just getting another band and using the stone I have, but in that case I won't have time to get anything custom made (Maybe better since I will see what it looks like first !). Right now, I am leaning towards sticking with it and see what my GF thinks about it. I am sure she won't say she hates it, so I will probably wait a week to tell her how I feel so I don't ruin the moment.
So I guess my question is....if I really don't like it with the stones, or my GF agrees and we get a different setting, what are my options with the custom one? Is returning it an option? Selling it? Melting it down and using it for a new setting? I tried searching google, but couldn't find any info for my situation.
Thanks in advance for any help!
