Custom bezel setting - help select Vendor

Sorry for all the questions.

If you were going to do a custom version of this Fred Leighton ring, who would you reach out to for quotes? I've spend so long researching pave styles, I haven't really paid attention to the other talents of all the PS recommended jewelers. Budget is about $2k (for the setting)



I've reached out to ERD, but I'd like to compare some options.

ERD was going to be my suggestion. You could also try Victor Canera. He's known for pave, but could do a style like this well. Often, such a simple setting can be a challenge to get right and I'm confident that Victor would be up to the task.

I have no idea but I just wanted to say - that setting is so pretty! I love the simplicity of the bezel setting with the added interest of the milgrain detail.

ERD would be my first recommendation because I think they would be within budget.

Are you looking to have this setting made in PLAT or White Gold?

As Yenny suggested I would contact VC and SK for giggles to see what their quotes would be. I had SK do my 3 stone (non-pave) ring and I was amazed at how much lower his quote was from everyone else (including BGD and WF)! I would also probably ask BGD but I'm not sure they could get that delicate bezel done correctly. I don't think I have seen them do something quite like that ring before.

Meg- have you thought about Adam's bench at OWD too? I found him to be priced well. I think his setting can be on the more bulky side but Adam's customer service is pretty much second to none. He would make sure if you wanted delicate bezel that is what you got. Plus I'm pretty sure one of his collections that are coming out are bezels. I would definitely contact Adam for a price quote.

why not 18k??

I was going to say, i got a quote when i was looking into a plain split shank halo for my pear.... anyways, they said it would be under 2k, and that was going to be with 18k and a halo .

word. 18k is "copperier" , 14 will have that nice pinker hue

Yup I was also going to say 14k over 18k because I prefer pink over copper! Good choice!

If the quotes are similar I would definitely go with ERD then as they have already made and delivered this ring (which I think is STUNNING!). I would have them taper in the shank a bit more on top so it looks closer to the inspiration picture but other then that I really like it.

I really love the ERD setting but for another option with different profile: Jewels By Erica Grace- the Julia but with the thin milgrain bezel of the Astin.

I think ERD is a great choice too. But, I wish I could show you my bezel setting being made by Single Stone. It's not done yet and I know I'm late to the party-but wanted to give a shout out to them. I too am a fan of the thinner bezel. I'm sure it'll be great with that stone you've got.

Nice choice going with ERD.

I'm hopefully doing the exact same ring but with an oec and 18k rose gold! You will likely have your ring long before I do though... So post lots of pics so I can oogle it!

I've been dying to see them do another milgrain bezel ever since I saw this one on PS last summer!!!

Flaming going on in SMTB? I haven't noticed any. I can't imagine you would have any problems posting your new ring, it sounds stunning.

In regards to the flaming comment I will say it is all towards one vendor who behaves rather badly on the boards. I'm not sure why you think your ring will be cause a stir. Several other members have posted rings by said member and the only posts in their SMTB threads have been positive. So please don't make assumptions about others. I might want nothing to do with the vendor but that doesn't mean I can't support others- different strokes for different folks. The only time I ever get exasperated on PS is when people post stuff like this

I have that same issue of Martha Stewart Living and love many of those rings. I'm sure my husband and kids think I'm nuts. No one is getting married in our house why do we have a wedding magazine?? There is an emerald cut mc2 toward the bottom below your bezel dream setting that I tried on, it's gorgeous too. The picture of it does nothing for it in real life. What are you stone's stats again?

Haha yes this probably isn't helping us see that vc ring now.

I will say though SMTB is only ever nice and positive . Usually the dissenting opinions are kept in RT

I'm aware of the thread about that particular vendor, but nobody is going to flame or be critical in SMTB. A ring was just posted by said vendor and has 90 positive responses. It up to you though chel, you don't have to share if you don't feel comfortable. I just think you're worrying a little too much about it.
