Cushions - Pavilions????? Need Help

Hello I have noticed that people have posted on here about pavilions in their cushions, for example, they list the stats and then say its a 8 main pavilion?
I have just ordered a cushion cut stone and is in the process of getting set now? How do I determine what mine is? It is a GIA certified, does it say it on that? Or can I distinguish it off the cut plot? Its a cushion brilliant

You should be able to tell by looking at the plot of the Cushion on the GIA certificate. The picture should indicate whether it's a "4 main pav" or 8 main pav" Cushion. I have heard that sometimes the GIA plot doesn't match exactly (since their are so many Cushion plots & shapes)

If you like, post a picture of your stone in the face up position and post a picture of your GIA plot and we can tell you which style you have (and whether it matches the blasted GIA plot).

Most likely. But diamond manufacturers/dealers get 3 tries at GIA to get a stone graded the way they want. So if the first time a stone was graded a G, the owner could submit 2 other times for a $75 fee to see if another couple of graders think its more like an F. So there may be some wiggle room - hence why some G, VS1''s are better or worse than other G, VS1''s.

I guess not an exact science.
