Cushion Modified Brilliant

Hi, I''m looking at a diamond that looks great so far, but I just wanted some 3rd party opinions as well. Here are the specs:

1.81 carat
G
SI 2
Polish - Ex
Symm- VG
Culet - No

Measurements 7.12x6.80x4.47 (length to width ratio 1.047) I want the diamond to look as square or symmetical as possible as I would like to have a ring made to emmulate the Tiffany Novo Setting as close as possible.

Let me know what I can expect with this stone...It has a cloud and a dark crystal on the table, which was the grade determinant. Although the lady a GIA said its a High SI2 (so closer to SI1)

Any thought or suggestions?

I wouldn't touch an SI2 especially one with dark crystals underneath the table.

That would definitely not be eye clean but if you can see it in person before you decide then you might be able to make a judgement on this one. Unseen I would pass for sure.
If this is a GIA certificate you could post the plot here and I could tell you a little more but its likely going to be a pass.

If you can get an ASET image and a magnified picture also post it here and I can tell you about the light performance of the stone.
I would also suggest go on Vimeo.com and type in Rhino Cushion and take a look at his videos it will give you a good idea about the various cushion cuts available and if you truly prefer a cushion modified or somethingelse.

The Tiffany Novo is square, so you want dimensions to emulate this. Also, with a cushion it is VERY DIFFICULT to tell anything based on specs alone. You need pics and, better yet, to see it in person.

I missed the Tiffany Novo part. A tiffany novo is a square cushion hearts and arrows cut.

These diamonds are cut to very exact standards so you don't have to worry too much about the cut or proportions all the stones and with all the information GOG gives you there really isn't any guesswork you have to do.

I would expect you to pay at least ideal round brilliant prices and maybe more for one of these stones so you will pay 20 - 35% more for the same carat weight as you would for a Cushion Modified Brilliant but its worth calling GOG to get an idea on the prices.

These stones are not that popular because those who want the hearts and arrows can get a bigger looking stone in a round brilliant, but I guess if you want a square stone with round optics than these might be worth paying the premium for.

If you can see it yourself and the diamond is eyeclean to your standards ( ask to check it out away from the store lights to get a fuller picture) and you like it, no reason to not consider it. Just to clarify, it has a GIA report?
