Cushion Lovers: ERD chunky vs GOG signature line?

Hello everyone,

This is my first posting after learning a ton about cushion diamonds on the forum. Thanks for having such a great site. After so much reading which hurts my eyes, I came to conclude that I love chunky cushions. My boyfriend and I recently visited GOG and ERD and looked at their respective chunky cushions.

My question is

Generally, how do “GOG new Signature chunky cushions” compare to “ERD chunky cushions”? Which store’s chunky cushion would you purchase from and why?

I know this is a very broad question (without referring to any particular stones). The problem is to our untrained eyes, both stores’ cushions look beautiful. In addition, we both feel that when we were at the 2nd store, we couldn’t even quite remember what the first store’s stones were like (other than a lot of sparkles). Reading & learning on the site is one thing but looking at & comparing actual stones is totally different.

Simply put, we were overwhelmed. I know there is a bunch of chunky cushion lovers on the site who have experiences with both stores. I am wondering, with your trained eyes, how you’d compare and contrast the two (not the difference between two stores but the chunky cushions that they generally offer)

We are mostly concerned with performance (fire, brilliance etc) not with color/clarity. We were able to see some ASET images on GOG chunkies but don’t know how that would compare to ERD chunkies.

Hi Casey,

Lucky you on getting a chunky cushion!

My best suggestion, would be to have one of each that you're interested in, sent to an independant appraisers office (near you). That way you could compare without feeling rushed, and the appraiser could point out the pros and cons on both. That's what I would do if possible.

The GOG signatures are a consistent type - large, large facets (chunk) (with Great optics).
