Dear good folk,

I have looked around and ploughed through pricescope.

I have decided to get a Cushion Brilliant instead of a Square H&A, cos i don''t think the 30-50% premium makes sense and you can get much more out of a cushion for that price.

How does this look?

Cut: Cushion Brilliant
Carat Weight: 1.01
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Depth%: 62.7
Table %: 64
Symmetry: EX
Polish: EX
Girdle: STK-VTK
Culet: SL
Fluorescence: N
Measurements: 6.12x5.84x3.66
Ratio: 1.05
Picture attached

Many thanks for reading folks! Do assist with some helpful tips/feedback

Well, it is awfully hard to know if a picture is bad or a stone is bad. But that stone doesn''t look proportional to me in the picture. Does a cushion face up as large as a square H&A? I love cushions, but you really have to be choosey with those.

i think it looks like it could really have potential. have you seen it in person?
ds, the stone is tilted in the picture, that is why it doesn't look proportional.

I think it looks pretty in my opinion, I don''t know anything about cushions though.

even those of us who have them don''t know anything about them lol most vendors don''t know anything about them either LOL! (tongue in cheek)

Seriously, different cuts have different looks and what attracts one person might not another... and I would find out the crown height on it - you probably won''t be able to get pav/crown angles and that''s okay if you know the % of crown height you can get a close enough aproximation. The table on that stone is really big and it is somewhat shallow for a cushion so it might be a very brilliant stone who knows. Really you''ll have to look at it. Rare to see ex/ex on a cushion oh and with the stk/vtk it makes the stone seem even shallower to me. I dunno, find the crown height. I''m a fan of high crowns for lots of fire hehehe.

Diamondseeker, I'm no expert, but that will likely face up much larger than the square H&A..For ex, there is a 1.02 H&A on GOG that is 5.44X5.47....some may say it's so much better in terms of brilliance, light return, blah, blah, blah, but I love the look of the mod cushions so much better....

It looks like a pretty stone, but you'd have to see it...the table is a bit large for a modern cushion, but who knows...

Hi all,

thanks for all the comments.

i''ve managed to get the measurements for the stone.

does this help in the decision?

Personally, this stone is a *far* cry from what I was looking for. It has a shallow pavillion, a shallow crown, a HUGE table, and a THICK girdle. It''s almost a pancake! Now, how it *performs* is beyond me but if what you want is a "diamond" that *covers* your finger, you''ll definitely get the most bang for your buck with a nice flat stone like this. Whether it does anything other than show the hairs on your finger, no clue! Gotta see it.

Do you REALLY like the square shape and the faceting or are you just trying to save some money? Oh yes, I do see that you like the square shape. Can you see the two types of cuts next to each other to help you decide?

As someone's tag line reads "A deal isn't really a deal unless you're getting what you want!"

So think about what you really want and if this stone seems to have it go have a look at it.
