Hi, y'all! I don't know if anybody will remember me . . . I haven't been here in a loooooong time! LOL! Life got busy and there were no diamond purchases on the horizon, so I disappeared from PS for quite awhile. BUT! Our 10th anniversary is coming up and I think we all know what THAT usually means around here! :Up_to_something:

So. I am looking at cushions. I would REALLY like to get one from GOG because their upgrade policy is amazing and I hope to put it to ️excellent use in the future! But also because those AVCs have grabbed me by the face and said "LOOK AT ME! YOU KNOW YOU WANT THIS!"

I fully intend to go warmer in color because I like the look of warmer vintagey stones. My current stone is a J and I'm willing to go substantially lower than that. I'd like to be somewhere over a carat because my current stone is 0.75 ct and I'd like to go up enough in size that it FEELS bigger if that makes any sense. Clarity doesn't matter a bit to me, provided it's eye-clean. The setting will be 18k YG and I really like a solitaire with a thin pave or shared-prong band and claw prongs. I can set it in something simple for now and reset into my dream setting later, possibly. I'd also like to find a setting that will "grow with me," so to speak. If I can find one that we could modify to accept a larger stone for a future upgrade, that would be awesome!

Budget is somewhere around $7,000 for the whole ring, but we might have a wee bit of wiggle room there. Your advice is greatly appreciated, as always. Feels great to be back! :appl: :appl: :appl:

They have a number of 1+ ct AVC's in stock under $6k. I'd call them and see if they have setting recommendations (I did, and ended up selecting one of the suggestions instead of the one I originally wanted). There is even a 1.17ct P color that looks delicious!

Thanks, ecf8593! I did see that stone you mentioned and it's definitely a possibility. I'm just struggling with how low is TOO low in color. I think I'd be fine with anything in the L/M/N range. O/P scares me a bit though! I've seen some gorgeous O/P (and lower!) stones here on PS but I worry that the color would be more obvious IRL. I've never been a fan of bright white D/E/F stones, and most of what I have now is in the G/H/I range (with the exception of the J in my e-ring). I think my main concern is how the center stone will look against melee in the band. I wonder if GOG could source melee stones for me that would be lower in color than most melee stones usually are?

I had a 1.18ct L color AVC for a while. Initially it was in a white gold getting with pave on the shanks. There is definitely color in the L (to my eye), but it was beautiful. I didn't like it in a white metal, but it may have looked better in yellow or rose gold. I ended up not keeping it, and exchanged it for a G color AVC. That said I have a J color emerald cut in white gold, and I love it. I think if you have a J, like it, and are willing to go lower, then you'd be ok with a K/L range stone. GOG has a great return policy as well, and you could always have one (or more!) shipped to you for inspection.

Yes, all of their policies are wonderful! And I trust Jonathan 100% based on the excellent reputation he has here. I know that many PSers have purchased stones from him and I have yet to find someone who wasn't completely satisfied with the experience. The man knows how to run a business, keep customers happy, and pick amazing diamonds!

Does anyone know how often GOG gets new AVCs in stock? Or does anyone have any experience with having an AVC custom cut? Our anniversary is in July so we have awhile to work on this project. I'm wondering if I should hold out awhile to see what else pops up on GOG's site?
