Cushion Feedback and Questions on GIA Cushion Cert

I was hoping for some feedback on the following cushion as well as an answer to some quick questions.

The stone is:

Price: $13900
GIA Cert.
Shape and Cutting Style: Cushion Modified Brilliant
Measurements: 7.30 x 6.38 x 4.30mm
Carat Weight: 1.62c
Color Grade: E
Clarity Grade: VVS2
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: None
Comments: Clarity grade is based on internal graining that is not shown. Surface graining is not shown.
Table: 57%
Depth: 67.4%
Culet: Very Small
Girdle: Slightly thick (faceted)

My questions:

1. Is this a "modern" cushion? Reading the forums, I believe it is, but the "modified" always throws me.

2. Any concerns on the comments on the certificate?

3. Is the price appropriate?

Unfortunately, there isn't too much that we can tell you about a cushion without seeing pictures or idealscope images. But nothing about it makes me scream RUN! But I do strongly prefer excellent or at least vg symmetry and polish with the modern cushions and at least I personally would be more than willing to give up a bit of color and clarity (E VVS2 is slightly over the top for most peopel) to get those.

That being said, the facet pattern can also change even with the "modified" designation. This cushion could look like crushed ice, or it could be a very clean modern cut. It depends. So it is crucial that you see pictures...

ALSO, "modern" does not equal "modified". Mine is a modern cushion and it is a cushion brilliant...so again, you really need to look through all the cushion threads on here with the facet patterns and pictures and determine WHICH modern look you like best.

Ditto, also a picture is very useful so you can get an idea of how it looks and if it appeals to you. Regarding pricing, you can use the Pricescope Your Diamond tool at the top of the page, enter your specs to bring up similar, and compare your pricing that way. Unless high colour and clarity are super important to you, you could lower these and still have a very white and clean diamond, but of course this is a personal preference.

yes, this is a "modern" cushion. Looks like a nice lab report. Any "modified cushion brilliant" is a modified version of the original cushion cut. The "cushion brilliant" is closer to the original cut, but still different (pavilion mains are longer and thinner, culet is smaller, etc.) 99.9% of all cushions are newly cut stones.

With cushions, they all look different - i.e. have a personality.....the trick is to compare several of them to make sure that you LOVE the look of the one you are buying - your jeweler should be happy to show you several stones. Personally, I focus more on the beauty/personality of the stone than on polish or symmetry.
