which question is that a response to?

Its sounds like a rare beauty!!!

Dont you know that beautiful rare artwork is expensive, 8% is modest if you ask me, are the other cushions you are comparing to the same as this one?

It shows you someone isnt the real owner of the diamond!!!! Now you can guess which one is....

is the medium blue fluorescence anything to worry about?

No, if it doesnt look hazy..., and usually med blue are very rarly hazy

Ha! You''re not the only who who has been looking at that same stone! (not me) :)
The light scope image is a little weak....but I have a similar stone and it blows me away. And, the picture of that stone is amazing. Just beautiful! :)

p.s. Jon gives you a 100% upgrade. EDC won''t. That''s a big part of it.

Same stone allright !

Down to the registration number on the GIA cert...

Do you care about the upgrade ? Otherwise... it is the same stone. It does not seem quite fair that GOG''s info gets to (basically) promote someone else''s stone, but this is between Jonathan and the Excel guys to sort out. Unfortunately

How does this one look?

And not trying to ruffle feathers but why is there an 8% premium for this diamond at GOG vs other vendors for the same diamond?
Hi Pepperell,

Valid question and thought I''d answer publicly so everyone can know (we get asked this frequently). Firstly the difference is not $1000 but more around $7xx.

The first and main point is the investment it takes to bring you the data. We happen to be a genuine bricks and mortar store and we incorporate a lot more time and money to bring the information to our clients via the lab equipment we employ in our selection process, the staff hired to do this work, the time it takes to do the photography, making a web page for all of this etc. I guarantee you if any company provided the amount of time and data that we spend with a stone, no way would they be able to stay in business. Websites like the one mentioned are the antithesis to our operation.

Ie. we could easily close shop, sell off or return all leased lab equipment, no professional photography, no web pages with that data etc. However when you consider the magnitude of the purchase every one of our clients express to us that the (5% in this case) small percentage more to bring them the data brings 110% more peace of mind when they know they have this data plus my personal gemological expertise involved in the examination. To my knowledge this other website just drop ships stones from a factory whereas we call it in, perform all the necessary testing not to mention our policies regarding a purchase like this.

I''ve asked the question many times over in my own mind... do I close shop and become like 99% of other websites and just post a search engine with other people''s inventories so I can sell for a few % less OR do I sell for a little bit more and provide the best data and photography possible via the net? For a while we were offering both options. We would offer a "full service" price which included all the services we perform and we would also offer a "drop ship" price if all we had to do was collect a check and have the manufacturer drop ship the stone to you. We have chosen to cancel the "drop ship" option because I don''t feel comfortable selling something that we don''t even see. If you prefer to purchase in that manner that''s ok but in our opinion (especially with cushion cuts or any fancy cuts for that matter) it''s not wise and there are too many unforseen complications that can arise. We now only feature stones with which we have personally analyzed and inspected. Oh ... and even though it is listed on that other site the diamond is physically here in our inventory. For clarification they are not and do not own the stone.

Hope that helps. If you have any other questions don''t hesitate to pm or email me.

Kind regards,

Hi pepperel,

I dont know this Co. at all,

But he sounds very fair, and he is right, he gets alot of info. out to his clients.
And after all that cushion is a real rare beauty.....

And if he owns it as he says, you wouldnt be able to get this specific diamond anywhere else.

Hi DiaGem,

Thanks for the kind words. We''ve been in the same location for 25 years and have been participating on web forums since around 2000. A query for Good Old Gold or www.goodoldgold.com should pull up a few results if you''re ever interested in delving deeper in your investigation.

Kind regards,

J- you''ve never really commented on the "mod" cushion... so what''s you''re take on these bad boys? How do you feel about that lightscope image v. how the stone looks in person?
