I everyone, i''ve been a lurker on here for a while, my BF finally just purchased the diamond from blue nile and i was wondering if we paid a reasonable price for it (or if we overpaid).

Here are the stats:
1.59 ct
F color
VS1
VG Cut
Ex Polish
Ex Symmetry
No culet
No florencence
Length to width ratio is 1.00
depth- 67%
table - 61%
Girdle is medium to thick

He paid 16k for it. It just seems like all the other diamonds that have similar size, clarity and color are cheaper than this one, but this one has awesome other stats so im not really sure how much of that is taken into account. Its also the 8-mean brilliant cushion.

here is a picture of our diamond

The price sounds fine, but to double check go to the prices tab and then search by cut to do a comparison.

That''s a beautiful diamond by the way. Just out of curiosity, what does your GIA report look like?

I think she/he means the plot of the stone itself.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting your GIA report. Your diamond plot is the same as mine (with very similar specs), and given the issue date of the GIA report, I suspect its from the same cutter. Mine is currently in the process of getting a laser inscription, and then set, but from what I''ve seen in video (from GOG), the rock (1.57) looks stunning. Actually, I found my rock on Blue Nile as well, but had GOG bring it in and video with another rock (1.61) I was considering buying.

Anyways with regards price, I''m not sure how it''s all priced out. However, I did find a VERY similar rock on James Allen (after I purchased my rock already) at a very decent price.

Good luck. I''m sure you''ll be happy either way :P

Looks beautiful! I couldn't see any comparables on the PS search either. Blue Nile's prices seem fair enough to me. I know some PS vendors are occasionally able to beat BN's prices, but I don't know how much better they would be. I think it's a gorgeous cushion and you should enjoy it!

we were actually looking at the stone that you bought! we asked our vendor to get it but someone else bought it and the next day we saw it on GOG's website....lucky you! a couple of days later we found our diamond on Blue nile...it was listed for less than a few hours since the bf checked in the afternoon and it wasnt there but once we got home he checked again and he saw it and then called blue nile to hold it.

our jeweler (Geoffrey's in San Mateo) has told us that because of the cut of our diamond it shines like its an E, but we like that its a vs1...the feathers on the james allen would bother me a bit since i can see them clearly even without the additional magnification and the table and depth are slightly off from what my BF was looking for. it is a beautiful diamond tho...at a great price to boot!

Hahaha....I swear I was constantly hitting refresh on every diamond page checking their loose diamond inventory for like a month (May)...and there wasn''t anything really meeting our criteria. It wasn''t until right around the middle of June that things started popping up. Finally, some nice 4/8 pavillion mains fitting our specifications appeared, and we had GOG bring them in as soon as we saw them. GOG was great to work with, as they provided ample information on each diamond. Their videos really speak volumes about each rock. I''m still a good 3-4 weeks away from actually seeing the diamond first hand. If its anything like yours, I''ll be so pleased. I suspect they should be similar given their cut, dimensions, and specifications.

wow...you must have been battling with my bf for the stones....he''s been looking for two months too! lol....your diamond looks gorgeous on the videos...my bf was miffed that he didnt get it (especially since he was eyeing it for a two weeks...lol). It ended up working out for both of us though!
