Anyone know the ideal depth, table and ratio for Cushion and Radiant cuts?

They are the two main cuts I''m looking into, with round coming in third but I think I have found enough info on Rounds to make a wise choice if it comes down to it.

Can anyone offer an info? Thanks in advance!!

Fancy cuts each need to be judged with the eyes. There''s no formula like there is for rounds, you can have two cushions that look almost identical on paper but one could be a total dog and the other a great stone. It just depends.

Hmm. So should I ask for other reports on the diamond and do my best to judge it by that? Or do you mean that I should actually have it in my hands and view it that way? I am looking at James Allen diamonds and I''m not sure if they allow you to view it (as in, send it to you) without buying. Or even buying it, having them send it to me and then send it back to have it set if I like it.

It''s just so tough to judge a stone when it''s not right here in front of you.

James Allen usually has real life pictures up, but some aren''t the best. If you''re unsure ask JA for their opinion, reserve the stone you are interested in, and then post it here. We''d be happy to chime in!

Thanks a bunch!

Any thoughts on this stone? I probably won't be buying for at least a month but I want to see if I'm looking at decent stones.

We're trying to keep the budget to 3,000. I want at least .65 or so. FF has it in his head that I'll be getting no less than 1 carat. I told him there is no way unless he wants to spend a fortune. I still don't think he gets it! Haha. But I'M looking for .65 to .85 or so. Could be less, could be more depending how nice the stone is.

I think the above one is nice. But like I said, I'm in the beginning of my researching and don't know all too much about diamonds. So tell me what you think! (Please!

Looks like it could be nice if you like that pattern and square stones. An ASET would make sure there is no weird light leakage anywhere.

Thanks. I put in a request to JA for an ASET.

You are well on your way then! My cushion is a G VS2 also, very nice sweet spot if I do say so myself!

One thing I just noticed is that table is pretty big. I would also want to confirm with JA that it doesn't negatively affect the stone. See if they can take a few more pictures at different angles for you.

What would you say is an ideal table? Around 60%ish?

When I was looking for my cushion, I aimed for tables in the mid to high 50s and depths in the 60s.

Thanks Charmy!

For modern cushions I like tables in the mid 50''s. But that''s just a sweet spot to start the looking process, it doesn''t mean that a table that''s bigger or smaller can''t be a beautiful stone.

Wow, I''m sure I am going to drive everyone here bonkers! haha... Using the info you lovely ladies have given me, I have found another stone that I really like. Much more than the other.

I like that it''s not square, for one. And the table size is much better than the last. What do you think?

Ahh. I am going to be SO happy when all this is over! Haha!

Also promising, although I personally am not a huge fan of the "X" pattern the middle makes, but that's a personal preference. I'd still get an ASET for the same reasons stated above.
