All,

I was originally missed out on a 1.22 H&A SI/F and moved onto a 1.22 H&A SI/G. While the SI/G looks very promising and has been given 2 thumbs up, the SI/F has just reappeared yesterday. Will folks please let me know their opinion of the 2 stones? The SI/F is 500 bucks cheaper than the SI/G. But the SI/G is ISEE2=9.8 and has GOG backing. Also the current diamond has all the inclusions on one facet, while the first has a feather near the edge. Will folks please look at the idealscopes in these links and please le me know their thoughts. I have both on hold.

The other one is a nice diamond too the IS looks very good.
Tough choice.
Are you getting a setting with it? (that helps get a price break)
Id try and talk GOG down $200 and get that one myself with a setting :}

Is the F eyeclean? Would the feather present a problem? (just wondering why it disappeared, and then reappeared)

Aside from that, either would be gorgeous based in IS pics.

Ditto to Ellen''s first point. Other than that...poTAYto poTAHto.

Thank you Ellen/Firegoddess on your replies. James Allen has told me that the diamond is eyeclean and that a feather on the side shouldn''t be a problem unless it was a princess cut diamond. What do folks think about a feather on the side? They said I could also hide the inclusion under a prong then. Nor sure if I know the ISee2 score=9.8 from GOG and the GEMEX 3 VHs should make the SI/G a beuatiful diamond, but there seems to be an almost 1000K difference in the pricing of the two stores if GOG SI/G if 500 more than the James Allen (allowing 500 for the color difference). I am getting the setting from TAcori so I don''t know if they would go to the trouble of hiding the inclusion under a prong for me as well. Also, I am concerned about chipping if there is a feather on the edge. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

lurking, Jim at JA knows way more about diamonds than me. He''s also a decent guy, so if he says it''s eyeclean, and that the feather presents no problem, then I''d take his word for it.

The one thing I noticed is, he said you could hide the feather with a prong, does this mean it''s only eyeclean face up? Not sure what you, and he, determined eyeclean to be....If it''s visable from the side, I guess that begs the question, would it bother the intended wearer? or can it totally be hidden? Depending on your answer to this, you may already know which one to get.

As far as Tacori putting the prong over it, I don''t know why they wouldn''t/couldn''t if you asked them.

My diamond is very similar to the SI1 F diamond you are considering so I thought I would chime in. If James says it's eye clean and that the feather presents no problem, I'd choose that one. I would clarify with James what he means when he says hides the feather. Does he mean protect it or is it not eye clean from the side? Not sure if that would bother you. I have a feather near the edge as well. I had the diamond set with the feather near a prong to protect that area and haven't had any problems. *knocks on wood* My diamond is eye clean. Through a loupe I'm able to see the feather inclusion but I don't mind. I actually like it because I can tell it's mine. I agree that Tacori should be able to put a prong near the feather to protect it.

I''d choose the GOG stone, especially since they carry Tacori and can have it set for you.
