I ran the HCA tool and it came up with a total score of "5.4 - Good - Only if price is your main criterion" (with "Good" for Light Return, Fire, and Scintillation; "Very Good" for Spread). It received a 1B Total Score on the AGA/NAJA cut class tool.

Me personally, I would not buy that stone - not only because of the 5.4 HCA score, but also it faces up smaller than it should - a well-cut 0.85ct should face up at apx 6.2mm, not 6mm like this K-VS2. Plus, I don't particularly care for a K color - I'd rather go with an I or else warmer with an L or an M.

If you tell us your budget and your color/clarity range, we can look for more diamonds for you to consider.

I should have put in the criteria in the HCA tool before I posted. I've looked at diamonds on all of those highly recommended websites and have found some great stones. I know I want to stay in .5-.75 ballpark, but it's the settings that are getting me now. The halo I like on JA looks like it sits too high, or the Cameron bezel I like on WF is way too expensive IMO for a setting. I basically like low profile rings. I really love bezel rings.

What do you think about this bezel at JA? (SKU: 11111Y) Does anyone have it? I would love to see a handshot.

Our budget is $2500 plus or minus some. This is a personal budget. I don't really feel the need to spend much more than that on a ring. We've already been married 15 years. I'm having such a hard time deciding on what to get.

Then I find this reasonably priced setting on Zoara, but don't know if I should really buy a stone from them.

You all have previously recommended stones for me, which I really appreciate. It's just now I'm stuck on a setting.
