I was just telling my mathematician hubby about this thread. I think I need a 3.14 ct diamond (pi), but perhaps I''ll settle for 2.72 ct (e). He agreed, so off to look now....

SYC...

does these lucky / unlucky numbers also considered while buying smaller diamonds like 0.40 or 0.92 ct etc.
My feeling is that most people really won''t pay so much attention to the specific carat weight of a stone. I was being somewhat facetious about the 2.168 stone (that would just be a jackpot in terms of lucky numbers!)

IF the person or her family is traditional/supersititious, and you want to be safe, you might want to stay away from any .4x carat stones. But anything .5, .6, .7, .8, or .9 would be just fine, I''m sure! The special, "lucky" numbers would still be the .6s, .8s, and .9s though.

I think it matters much less when you''re buying a diamond as when you''re bringing food to someone''s house or something like that. Eg, if we''re bringing fruit to an older/traditional Chinese person''s house, you should count and make sure you''re bringing a good number -- e.g., 6 oranges or some other "auspicious" fruit. It would be appreciated that you thought about it and are essentially wishing them "good luck" or "prosperity" or "long life" through this gesture.
