I recently purchased a ring, but my girlfriend lives in South America. I am a US citizen, but it appears most insurers do not cover "usage" outside the U.S. ("usage" defined as the act of wearing predominately in a given domicile). I have tried Chubb, JewelersMutual, State Farm, and a few others, but none have policies that match. I''d prefer to have U.S.-based coverage (and willing to pay a small premium for it) rather than insurance backed by less-reliable foreign institutions that could be taken over by the government at any moment.
Has anyone else encountered similar situations or have any suggestions? (To state the obvious, this is relatively short-term until she moves.)
