So with all the recent threads about makeup trials, I''ve been worrying a lot about mine. I''m getting my makeup done by someone at a MAC counter at the local mall, and I''ve never worn MAC, but have seen beautiful results on other brides (especially Robbie and Courtneylub (her trial). I don''t really know what to tell them I want, other than that I don''t want thick eyeliner, I want my skin tone to be even and not shiny, and I want to look fresh and somewhat natural. I have no idea what colors to suggest. So I searched thousands of pictures, and I found 2 that show makeup that I like. Please be honest: what do you think of these pictures as wedding day looks? And if I give these to the makeup artists, do you think it will turn out okay?

first a pic of me (in my shower dress) for reference, then the 2 pictures of makeup.

Both of these looks use pink eyeshadow. I personally think pink eyeshadow doesn''t work for most people in real life.

The first the eyes are a little dark, i think the second is beautiful.

I think a little peachier than pink would be pretty on you.

Ditto Julie - pink eyeshadow is a big no-no - it can look all kinds of strange in photos.

For eyeshadow, I''d ask for soft, matte, brown tones or plum tones, probably the brown would be better, but see if you can find someone to do both and see which one you like better. You will probably want a subtle eyeliner, because you have lovely big eyes, and a small amount of eyeliner will help to define them, but you can ask them to use it only just along the lashline and that will look much more subtle (the woman in the first pic you posted actually has a fair amount of liner on, its just done well/right along the lashline so its harder to tell, but that''s what gives her eyes the nice definition).

For eyelashes, I''d do falsies most likely (again because you have those big eyes) - you should be able to get the effect in the first photo.

On cheeks, a soft pink, cool or neutral undertones, and same on lips, possibly even into a mauve or plummy tone - again, see if you can get them to try several, and find out what looks best on you/in pictures.

Finally, if you really want to look like the woman in the first photo, you may want to ask for a light dusting of a slightly shimmery bronzing powder over your face and (esp. if your dress is strapless), on your neck, chest, arms, and shoulders. It will help to give your skin a healthy glow.

Here''s one idea - I think her coloring is more similar to yours. I love the subtle pinks and I *think* it still captures a lot of what you are looking for (though please correct me if I''m wrong) but more closely matches your coloring:

personally, i love the first pic, and i have never had a problem with pink eyeshadow, although i do think it depends on the shade of pink. with pinks, i think you have to play around a bit to make sure you get one that won''t wash you out or be too bright. you''ve chosen some lovely options!

Wow, I agree with everything AmberGretchen said!

Love that kind of rosy pink lipstick in the picture AG posted. Very sophisticated.

I think Amber''s is perfect for what you described.

I have the same coloring as you do Sabine, and I have never had much luck with pink eye shadows. I like both the pics you posted. The eyes on the first would look great with your eye shape, but the second seems closer to what you said you wanted.

I love this make up, probably not what you are looking for but I think she is gorgeous! Her hair too.

Wow, thanks for all the quick responses. So...pinks may be dangerous, although I might still try it out since I think that is definitely in the look that I am drawn to. If pinks don't work, should I suggest purples? I usually wear a light purple shadow in the spring/summer, and plums/browns in the fall and winter. On the picture that AmberGretchen posted, does she have pink in the crease and brown on the lid? I can't tell...

ETA: I am definitely going to try out false lashes since I love the long, defined lash look.
And Iwanna...I love Kate Hudson too...If I could look like that, just, wow. But I've been trying to stay away from pictures where I just think the girl is too pretty and looks totally different than me, coloring-wise, face shape wise, etc.

HI:

I wear MAC''s Pink Venus all the time but I do not have a fair complexion, so I think it suits. Agreed that one has to be careful with that color so as not to come off looking "tired" or "hungover"; but I always partner it with another brighter color (green, blue....).

I think they can be very becoming--if the right pink is choosen for you....

cheers--Sharon

I love darker maroons and I have the same coloring you do. They bring out the green in my eyes and it doesn''t look like you have alergies or something, which pink can.

For false eyelashes, you might se about getting the small clumps put on the edges of your eyes. It will look more natural and it will enhance you eye shape.

I think in the pic I posted its nice rich browns and maybe a darker purple, but I''m not seeing any pinks on the lids. I think purples/plums instead of pinks on the eyes is a great idea, especially if paired with some soft, rich browns, and pinks on lips and cheeks.
