Hey Folks,

Back to get some more insight from the masses. Again looking to build a Tiffany Novo like ring. Been having difficulty getting many options for an 8 main cushion at the Los Angeles Jewelry District so looking at options online where I heard H&A has similar qualities to the Novo. Apparently GoG no longer makes their Brellia cushion more than 1ct. I read that the BN Signature Cushion is pretty reliable and performs well and I found a couple options:

Also checked out BGD but didn't see one that really stood out. Maybe this one:

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

As for the setting, I heard the BGD Legera Pave was very nice and similar to the Novo, but I was wondering what the advantage would be to go to a local establishment like Hannah Maytal. I saw this design on her site that was very slick:

Appreciate any insight and feedback. Don't hold back if I'm clearly misunderstanding things.

Thanks!

Hi, I did not follow your previous topics, so not sure, what parameters you are looking for in the diamond. This was a recent user collaborating with BGD and posting the outcome of the 1.4 H SI1 diamond ring in the last post :

I have seen some Maytal rings and liked them a lot, I have also heard great about Victor Canera, who would be also "local". BGD gave me in the past very high quotes for the custom settings (although your Legera would be from the list) so I would definitely at least cross-check for other prices and possibilities, especially if you source the diamond elsewhere. I like more the thought of going custom and having a ring slightly more personalised to be honest. For me there are somehow too many Legeras around, on the other hand you can do custom also with BGD.

I was recently looking for a Brellia - JannPaul in Singapore carry it as well, they had several above 1ct, I was checking out a 1.35 G VVS diamond, I think they might still have it. I LOVE their settings, they have a great portfolio on their Facebook account, you can find an album on Brellias only. My choice would be to go with them!

The BN H&A do not appeal to me shape wise, but I have read here some very positive reactions.

What size center diamond 8 main are looking for?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to take a look at the vendor in Singapore, although I'm not sure international is in my comfort zone since it took me a little bit to even start considering online.

As for the specs, I've read Charmypoo's Harry Winston post a few times to get a sense the minimum criteria. But ideally, I guess it would be around a G VS2. I've been looking at around 1.5 ct or less however I hear the measurements are more important for cushions. Working with a pricepoint around $12k for the just the diamond.

Ugh don't know what's going on with my account. It seems to have switched between awong200 and monkified. I forgot I signed up with an account a while back.

The one thing is it might be a bit too pricy since already Brellia (at GOG also) is much more expensive than the other H&A cushions you mentioned and also because JannPaul specialise on superideal diamonds and dont go below G color and VS2 clarity. So the choice might be limited. The Asian market is more into icy white and high clarity stones, US more about big rocks ;). The Brellia I mentioned was in the 14K range. The Brian Gavin signature cushions have a bigger face up area compared to Brellia. I am from Europe so for me either US or Singapore is overseas so I did not really care about the source.

Do you maybe consider other H&A like the ideal square from GOG (ex Princess of hearts). You might find some also at James Alles and other vendors, but I recommend GOG for their allover buy back and upgrade policies. Once set the outcome might be similar.

I recently purchased a Brian Gavin H&A cushion and had a great experience, although there appears to be a good deal of variance within the line with some stones cut better than others.

Not sure of your budget or spread desires but it is challenging to find good stones between 1.0ct and 1.5ct. Blue Nile seems to exclusively sell in 0.5ct increments once you get above 1.0ct. That said, if you are patient Brian Gavin has some beautiful stones pop up from time to time.

I actually posted your topic :) I was having that diamond on hold before you (you even wrote to my topic first). All the best to your engagement, I am glad you love the BGD H&A. BGD have from time to time nice stones, it all depends how much time pressure there is for you for the ring?

Concerning GOG, I ment more the ideal square cut: http://www.goodoldgold.com/ecommerce/diamonds/radiant.html but they are closer to Lucida and not the Novo. I do like the recommendation from GOG posted. What do you think awong200?

Thanks Wieke. Yeah I like the look of the one GoG suggested. I think the specs and reports look good, but would like some other folk's input on the quality.

I think it'd look great as a solitaire on a pave, like the one I linked on my first post.

Appreciate any feedback!

maybe open a separate topic only about the stone itself, with some images and links people can immediately see and give feedback on... or they will not respond since they would have to read the whole discussion. good luck :) and please post the results if you really make a choice !!!! its always wonderful to see the results :)

This stone just got posted to Brian Gavin and is a 1.208 G SI1 which is fairly rare combo for these stones. Nice shape, will have to check about the visibility of the inclusions. At around $8,500 that's a pretty decent deal if eye-clean. 6.19mm spread and good hearts and arrows formation.

Could pair it with the Novella setting for a solid Novo replica for about 1/3 the Tiffany price.
