I have a beautiful antique star sapphire that is cracked on one side. Is there any way to repair or polish a stone that''s been damaged?

Yes, but it will depend on where the damage is and how bad it is. It may require a major recut, or even a change in shape.

Thanks for your reply. I know that I would need to bring it to someone who works with gems. Since I''m in northern VA, the only PS jeweler near me is Quest, so I''m not sure if they do that type of thing, but I may bring it in to them to take a look at it.

Vesper,
I''m not sure what can be done - I suppose it depends on how badly damaged it is and the location. If it isn''t too noticeable, I''d leave it as it is.
